No matter how hard he tried, Ryan couldn't get that argument with Brendon out of his head.

How long had he been driving? Did it even matter? He didn't care at this point. It didn't matter.

How could Brendon do that to him? Did he even realize how hard it was to start over again? Finding someone willing to work with him was one thing, and finding someone who would treat him as an independent artist was another. Doing both at the same time was almost impossible. All he needed was one fucking signature, was that so much to ask?

Ryan's grip on the steering wheel tightened as he noticed a few drops of rain hitting the windshield. Great, some dreary weather to add to his anger. He cursed under his breath and made a turn, only to find that the road he had turned on was jam-packed with traffic. Ryan let out an exasperated groan and leaned back in his seat.

His mind kept going back to what had happened with Brendon. After all that time apart, it's definitely not how he wanted their meeting to come to. Sure he didn't blame Brendon for being upset at him for not showing up after so long, but this was a low blow. If only he could see things from his perspective for once...

This music wasn't helping his nerves at all. He turned the dial, and was comforted by the silence that followed. The silence, and the gentle tapping of the rain as it hit his windshield. He stared out the window and took a deep breath.

"How did that one song go again..?"

What had Brendon said again? Before things got heated, anyway. "Friends are supposed to be there for each other.." He thought about the day that he finally broke the news to Brendon that him and Jon were leaving the band. Brendon appeared fine about their decision when he told them, but he found out from Spencer that he wasn't quite the same for a while after that.

Ryan began to drum his fingers on the steering wheel, humming to himself as he let his mind wander a bit.

Maybe he was a little harsh on his friend.. didn't he say that he broke up with that girl he really liked? He remembered hearing about them dating, but no one told him that they broke up. Ryan began to feel bad for not getting more information from Brendon. Or spending more time with him in general.

"The men all played along to marching drums.." he sang softly.

God, he was such an asshole.. how could he have done that to his friend? One of his closest friends growing up! This guilt was beginning to grow inside the more he thought about this.

"And boy, did they have fun.. behind the sea.."

Hot tears began to form at his eyes now. He never realized how stupid he was. He was so incredibly stupid.

"They sang, so our matching legs are marching clocks.. and we're all to small to talk to God.."

Ryan paused when he noticed his opportunity was right in front of him. He could make a turn, he could go back. He hesitated for a moment before making the decision. He turned down the road and made his way back from the way he came. He was going to make things right.

"Yes, we're all to smart to talk to God..."
