Ella's P.O.V

I stood next to the large window, staring out into the snowy darkness outside. It was beautiful outside, with the snowflakes falling onto the floor, lost forever right when it melts into the ice. I loved winter, it was my favorite season. It gave me imagination and hope that there would be more things out there than here, in this mansion.

The mansion was filled with happiness and friendless, but I wanted more. I don't want to simply live in peace and happiness, I want adventure. I want to travel the world and live in danger and excitement. Living in a cozy and safe house was just not my dream, but it was most of my sister's. I dreamed of bigger things with bigger endings.

My sister's were all too different from each other, but I liked that. It made them individually unique. Camille was always cool and mature, and I didn't even know how she did it most of the time. There were so many responsibilities laid out for her, but she never showed any anxiousness or nervousness, but I kind of admired her for that. Vivian surely dreamed of bigger things too, but I sometimes doubted it. She was always happy and cheerful, but she seemed to only think of us. Of her sisters. She was never selfish, and I think she never will be. I also admired her for being selfless and content. I have only known Dove for four years, but I loved her as much as I loved my other sisters. She was very cute, and she always loved me like any other sister too. When Alexander couldn't be there, she was there. I believed she was the most caring out of all of us, but she was always humble and said that we were all more caring. I admired her for being who she was, and for taking care of Arielle when none of us wanted to. Oh, how Arielle was annoying, but she was also incredibly gentle. When I needed her, she was always there. She cried a lot, but she was also so cute and lovely. She always made us feel special, playing with our hair or drawing simple drawings of us. She always told me that I was very pretty, but I never believed her, even though she insisted. She loved singing for us, and she was always so troublesome (and still is) but that's what I liked about her. If I needed a buddy to sneak out for fresh air, she would be by my side, encouraging me to go farther but I never did. A partner in crime, she was. Even though I was always dreaming of adventure, she was the one telling me to go find some or always sneaking out of the house. I loved every one of them, because they were all special.

Suddenly, I heard the door open behind me and I quickly turned around. It was eight year old Alexander. Oh, how Alexander was adorable. His badly cut hair and cute brown trousers. He always wore the same hat his mother, a mistress, gave him. He enjoyed bragging about it to me, and I enjoyed listening to him explain it in detail.

He scurried over to me and I walked over to him. I grabbed both of his hands and smiled. "Alexander, you're here."

"Of course I'm here, Ella. I would never just leave you here." Him and I always had to sneak around because I couldn't exactly have been seen with a mistress's son.

I loved Alexander with my whole heart, and he loved me back. We were both best friends, and we told each other secrets that no one else knew, including our secret meetings.

I even remember the first time I met him. "Excuse me." He said as he tapped on my shoulder. I was walking down a corridor when I turned around and saw the beautiful little boy standing across from me.

Flustered and confused about why he would even talked to me, I asked, "Yes?"

"Well, I simply wanted to say that you have a snowflake atop your head." He stood on his toes and slowly brushed the snow off my hair and then smiled. His smile is the same as it is today, the same big bright smile. How many girls fell for that smile, I don't know, all I know is that he had a lot of admirers even when young. He has always been quite attractive, I realized.

That was the moment I met my best friend, my beloved. Alexander brought me back to the moment when he asked, "Are you cold?" He suddenly grabbed a huge jacket off an armchair and hung it around my shoulders.

I smiled kindly at him and said, "Thank you."

He slightly bowed and answered, "You're welcome, Ella. Now come on, let's go outside."

"Alexander," I shot him a look. "You know Father would never let me go out in this weather." How I followed the rules when I was younger, but I never did after I realized how every rule was wrong.

"You're father isn't anywhere around, is he?" He looked around, mock searching for my father and then looked back at me with a mischievous grin. "Let's go, Ella. Don't worry, I will protect you from the snow, I promise."

I shook my head and smirked. "All right, but only for a little while."

He punched the air and shouted,"Yes!"

"Be quiet." I whispered.

"Sorry." He whispered back to me and then grinned. "Let's go." He took me by the hand and headed towards the door, dragging me behind him. How I didn't even know that he would keep me out there for hours, but I didn't even notice. I lost track of time, because that's what Alexander did to me. After that, I got in trouble, but it was definitely worth it. That was probably the first rule I ever broke, but there were many more to come.
