A Day Of Raking

I wrote this in the fall of 2007 or 2008 after my little sister complained none of my poems were about or to due with her. ^^After our landlord offered to pay us to rake the leaves out of their entire alley the idea came to me.

The cold wind blew across the skin

As the leaves were pushed with rakes

Their noses had long ago turn red

And their shoulders had begun to shake

But still pressed through the leaves they did

In hopes of mugged hot chocolate

They bagged the leaves and on they worked

When they'd be done, they did not know

The sun had finally gone behind the trees

But still some light did show

The smell of coc flowed from the house

Their mother must have known

"We're almost done, one pile is left."

"But I'm cold!" said her sister to she

"Then go inside and take a sip, but come back out and finish with me."

The pile was done, and the rakes put away

And the two stepped in from the cold

Hot chocolate awaited them both on the table

And my! the good taste was bold

So now the job of raking was done

And the payment had been paid

And deep within the hearts of the two

A life long friendship had been made.
