A/N: Author's block means writing a new story to help with the creativity. I'd like to thank my friend for helping me start this. She's awesome. I love you bae <3
Jean kicked a rock. Seems like Mikasa wasn't the one. Everything he saw was still different shades of black and gray. It was like he would never escape it. The trees that he walked passed just mocked his pain. He couldn't look anywhere without seeing something black, grey, or white. Jean ducked under a fallen tree and stopped walking. The grass beneath him was a very pale green. That was new... He looked around to see if anyone was around him. There was no one. He decided to continue walking, maybe he would find someone. With every step he took the colors around him started to brighten, but very slightly. Eventually he came across a lake. He always came to this lake. But now he finally saw its pale colors. It was a pale dark blue and a pale dark shade of green around the edges. He looked around and saw a boy sitting on the shore, moving a rock in his hand.
The boy tossed the rock and it hit the surface of the water twice before falling into the depths. When the boy looked up and looked in Jean's direction the colors brightened extremely. But it didn't seem like that was as bright as they could go. Jean and the boy stared at each other for a few seconds. They were both surprised. The boy stood up as Jean walked over to him. They stared at each other in silence for a few more seconds. "Um," Jean wasn't quite sure what to say. "Hey..."
"Hi..." The boy responded quietly.
Jean was glad he could see colors now. He could see all of the boy's freckles and the slight blush on his face. "I'm Jean."
"I'm Marco." He still responded quietly.
"What are you doing out here?" Jean looked out to the water. It wasn't pale anymore.
Marco looked at the water, too. "I just wanted to go for a walk. I've never been in the forest so I wanted to see what I could find."
"Hm," Jean bent down to pick up one of the rocks. Not even this was gray. It was slightly blue. "I always come here. It's nice." He tossed it out to the water and it hit the surface three times before falling down.
"It is..." He said this normally, not quiet. "It's great that I can see it in color."
Jean stopped mid-throw. He looked at Marco. "Lucky that this is the first sight you see, huh?"
Marco looked at Jean. "Never thought I could be so lucky." He smiled.
Jean felt his face heat up slightly, making Marco smile more. Jean turned his attention back to the lake, throwing the rock he was still holding. It only hit the surface twice.
"So do you come here like everyday?" Marco asked, sitting back down on the ground.
"Yeah," Jean picked up another rock. "I practically grew up here." The rock made it to four.
Marco watched the ripples the rock made on the water's smooth surface with interest. He never thought he would ever get to see color. "Do you known your way around the forest, then?"
"I guess," Another rock was thrown, causing more ripples. "Why? You want a tour?"
Marco smirked. "Since you asked so nicely, I wouldn't mind."
The rock didn't skip. It just sunk from Jean's bad throw. He looked at Marco. Marco looked back at him with bright innocent eyes. "All right," Jean held his hand out to help him up. "But I'm not that good at giving tours."
Marco put his hand in Jean's and the colors around them blossomed some more. "I don't mind," he smiled when he was back on his feet, not even noticing the colors became brighter.
Jean smiled back, also not noticing. "C'mon."
He led the way to begin the tour of the small forest. All the greens and browns practically shouting at them to be noticed, but their shouts went ignored. Perhaps they would finally notice it later.
