Annabelle stood outside her house, the wind blowing through her hair as she looked out over her yard, watching her little brother and their dog running around laughing. "Annabelle! Tell your brother lunch is done!" Her mother said from inside the house. She sighed and walked toward the giggling child, randomly picking him up. "Anna! I was playing!" The little boy exclaimed, pretending to pout. Annabelle chuckled. "Lunch is ready Easton. Come on, I'll play with you after." She walked towards the house while her little brother told her why he was excited to go to school the next day.
"We are doing a group project! We have to make a presentation on our favorite bible lesson!" Easton exclaimed as he grinned happily up at his sister. Annabelle smiled back down at him but deep down, was frowning. Why you ask? She was an Atheist living with a religious catholic family. It was just great. She walked inside, setting him down at the table. She walked into the kitchen and was met with her mother and father bustling around, getting plates, cups, silverware, and getting the food out on the table. Annabelle left the kitchen slowly as to not bump into them and sat down beside Easton, who, somehow, now had two little toy trucks, rolling them around on the smooth hardwood table.
" Easton, no toys at the table"
    "Aww... yes mommy.."
Annabelle chuckled as she was handed a plate. "Lets pray" her father said as they bowed their heads, Annabelle hesitantly following.
They said their prayer and began to dig in. "So, Annabelle! How was your day at school?" Her mother asked, looking at her patiently. "Oh uh... it was good I guess." Annabelle replied, taking a bite of mashed potatoes. "Okay.? Easton? How about you?" She asked her son. 'Oh no...' Annabelle thought as Easton began to literally describe every single little thing that happened at school.
As he rambled on, Annabelle zoned out and started talking to herself. 'Should I come out? Do I not? Do I wait till I'm old enough to move out and THEN come out? Do I just blurt it out randomly? Do I write a note? Should I just... runaway..? As these questions kept repeating in her brain, her father kept repeating her name. "Annabelle... Annabelle? Annabelle? ANNABELLE" She jumped and hit her leg of the bottom of the table. "Ow! What?" She asked, looking down the table at her dad. "You need to stop zoning out Annabelle. It's not lady-like to ignore your family." He said as he glared at her. "I'm done." She replies as she stood and walked to her room.
Her mother sighed.
"What are we gonna do with her?"
