Hi! So before you read this story know that there won't be a major introduction to Kayle as I already described him in my other story. I hope you enjoy!

Kayle POV

I was late to my first class. Again. So now I'm running through the hallway pushing everyone out of my way.

After a few minutes of running, I pushed someone much harder than I should have. Ugh, sometimes I'm not aware of my own stranght.

So, a boy I pushed, who seemed like a freshman, lost in life, fell on the ground along with his books. Well fuck.

"Oh my fucking God I'm so sorry." I apologized

He mumbled something not understandable.

"I'm sorry, what did you say?"

"I said it's fine." He said quietly while picking up his books, I could barely hear him.

"Here let me help you."

"No, it's fine really-"

"I insist." I smiled at him

After I handed him his books, I started running to the class I was late for.

Mrs. Heller was just about to sign me as apsenet when I got into the classroom. That was fucking close.

After the class was over, I started walking towards the cafeteria to meet with my friends when I heard someone under the stairs. I decided to check out who was it. And boy what a small world. It was the same guy who I ran into earlier.

"Hey." I said when I saw him.

He seemed scared of me. He was so shy and quite I could barely hear his "Hey" back.

"Why are you alone, here?"

"This is gonna sound lame, but I don't really have any friends."

"Oh well you now have me. Congratulations! Your life just improved by 60%!" I joked, trying to get him to smile and it worked. Even though almost invisible, the smile was there.

"I didn't catch your name earlier." I said

"It's Tyler."

"Nice to meet you Tyler, I'm Kayle."

"I know who you are, I just don't know why you are talking to someone like me..."

Someone like him. He must have very low self-esteem. Probably because of lack of friends.

"What do you mean someone like you?"

"I mean, we are not exactly on the same level. You are popular. I, as already established, don't have friends. You are a Jock. I never play any sports. And no offense, but you are not really known for being the most polite."

"Ah, we here have a case of a guy not realizing how much he is worth. And please, I can be nice when I want to."

"Yeah, I see that now." He smiled. It was a bigger smile this time.

"So, you're a freshman?"

"Sophmore."

"I haven't seen you around school before and now I see you twice a day."

"I usually go unnoticed."

I noticed that he didn't have anything for lunch, so I asked him why.

"Oh, my mom forgot to pack it."

"Here. Have some of mine."

He tried to say no, but I insisted. He was so skinny, I couldn't let him eat nothing. So we shared my food. It was nice. Seeing him smile and talk. I was actually sad when we had to say goodbye.

"My next class is starting in 5 minutes, so I have to go. But.... Thanks for this, Kayle."

"Any time." I smiled and he left.

There was some weird kind of happiness surrounding me when he thanked me. I was proud of myself for making his day at least a little better and I wasn't planning on stopping that in the days to come.

So that's what we'd do almost every day. Just sit behind the stairs together and talk. It took awhile before he was completely comfortable with me. But it happened. We were able to talk like we knew each other for years. He started getting louder and smiled more. Except that was just when he was with me. So I would try to stay by his side as much as possible.

8:32am

I was supposed to be sitting at table with my friends, but I decided not to. I was pissed at my brother and I wasn't about to start unnecessary fight with him. Basically: he hit a friend of mine and won't tell me why.

Of course that friend wasn't Tyler. It was some random unimportant guy. I don't know what I'd do to him if he hit Tyler.

So I went down behind the stairs just to talk to Tyler.

He was surprised to see me. Surprised but happy.

"Hey"

"Hey, what are you doing here? I heard your brother got suspended, shouldn't you be with him right now?"

I sighed and sat next to Tyler. "Trust me, he is the last person I want to see right now."

"Wanna talk about it?"

"Not really."

"Okay, we can talk about something else."

"Yeah. I was thinking... Do you wanna hang out tomorrow?"

"We are hanging out right now?"

"I mean outside of school."

"Oh... Like a date?"

"It depends. If I say yes, will you come?"

"Yeah..."

"Then it's a date" I said and watched him blush."Text me your address, I'll come pick you up at six."

"O-okay." He was blushing so much

"Great." I smiled

Then I noticed something. "Tyler"

"Yeah?" He looked at me

"How does your mom forget to pack you lunch every single day?"

"I-uh, she is super busy." He obviously lied. There was something wrong, but I knew he'd tell me when he was ready.

I handed him half of my sandwich which he didn't want at first, but I , as you can guess, insisted.

From now on, I'll make it my job to take care of him.
