so after school i was practicing my solo, scherzino.

and it was a high school - tutor session thing, but nobody showed up so they sent the soloists to practice on their own.

i needed to work on not clipping the notes at the end of each phrase (according to john hmph) but i just kinda ditched that and practiced the slow part and counting in one instead of three.

i was playing normally when i got 0:57 (in the video go listen to it now or else you won't understand the rest of the this chapter).

and some trumpet player responded to me. i looked around and there was no one, only a couple french horns that i could barley hear.

i play the phrase again, confused. and someone still played those two notes as if it were a call and response.

i play the two notes again, just to make sure.
and indeed, they did it one more time.

i just kind of laughed and continued playing the whole phrase, and then i hear a grunt as the trumpet player dropped his music.

i squint my eyes and i read the title:
concert aria for trumpet, cornet, or baritone.

in my head i'm thinking,
holy shoot, that's johns solo.

wait a second hOLY SHOOT ITS JOHN'S
SO—
