The night passed by really quickly. Cora must've heard my alarm and woken up by herself because once I woke up she was awake trying her best to make breakfast.

I had recently bought milk, cereal, orange juice, snacks, and food in general but yeah that's about it. Cora liked surprising me. Whether it was her doing good in school, making something, or saying mom. Cora was a literal daughter to me. She knows how much she means to me. I refuse to believe she loves me more.

One surprise this morning was how Cora was already dressed and ready for school. Cora was one of those few kids that actually liked attending school. Not because of the work or anything involving after school but, because of the thought of learning new things and making new friends. She seemed to be friends with Zach's little sister, Reese. I found this adorable.

I dropped her off at school and next stop was my school. Stupid high school. I grip onto my backpack and began to walk up the entrance and into the big and oddly shaped building. I look around hoping to find one of the boys. Didn't matter at this point.

I walk to my locker trying to avoid anyone and everyone.

I felt a tap on my shoulder as I checked if my math book was in my locker or in my backpack.

"Hey!" Zach says with a smirk on his face.

"Hey" I put my hair behind my ear as I continue searching for my book.

"I'm still taking you home right?" He says leaning on the lockers.

"I don't really mind walking alone. It's only if you have...found it" he was probably confused so I showed him my math book and smiled.

"I'll meet you by the entrance?" He says as he walks away slowly.

"Don't be late." I say.

"Never" he replies then turns around heading to class.

He was going to be late. I should be heading with him since we do have the same first period.

I look in my locker mirror and adjust the hair's that are sticking out. I fix anything that needed to be fixed and head to the classroom.

I walk in before the bell rang. I doubt Zach was in there before anyone else.

The seats were empty and no one was there. I sit in the same seat as yesterday and hope for the best. I put down my math book, making sure I don't lose it out of nowhere.

'Great where's my pencil' I say to myself.

'let me think. If I don't try finding my pencil then that means I have to socialize with people at least once in each class asking for one. Waiting for them to respond with "sorry I don't have any" or "you should be prepared".' I say to myself again.

The bell rings and I cant wait for the bell to ring again so I can leave.

"Hey beautiful" Jonah says walking in.

"Hey Daniel." I say ignoring Jonah and looking at him and his big smile.

"Sup" he says sitting in front of me.

'sup? Is "sup" all I get? Really?' I say to myself yet again. If you haven't noticed I like talking to myself. I'm the only person who gets me.

"No hi?" Jonah says taking his seat.

"You said hi? Hey then." I say still searching for that stupid pencil.

I hear a familiar voice walk into the room. I look up and see Zach talking to another girl in the hallway. It hurt even though I just met him.

"You need a ride home?" Jonah whispers, leaning over his desk.

"Not from you" I say.

"Heard Daniel's trying to get back with his ex?" Jack says clicking his pen.

Daniel looks back at them and gives them this look telling them to "cut it out".

Daniels ex was the girl Jonah was flirting with in this Math class. She was really pretty and I don't know why I thought of having a chance with Daniel.

"Also heard that Zach's trying to smash your sis, Avery" I turn around and look to see Jonah smiling at Zach and then at Jack.

"Ew. He better not." Jack says with a look of disgust.

I look back facing front and get kind of sad. So were they just playing me on. Daniel turns back to look at the guys and shakes his head. He looks at me and whispers, "none of what they said was true." I don't look at him because I don't know him well enough to trust him, "please believe me. I don't like my ex and I'm not trying to get back with her. That relationship was toxic and I wish it never had happened." He lifts my head up by my chin, slowly, to look at him in the eyes.

"What about Zach?" I say looking him in the eyes.

"What about him?" He asks moving his hands to be over mine.

"He's trying to get with Savannah."

"I doubt it. They've been friends since Middle school and I'm pretty sure Savannah has a boyfriend." He looks at me smiling hoping that, that information made me somewhat relieved.

"Ok" I say looking back down at my math book. "You still walking with me after school?" asking but not looking at him.

"Hopefully Zach doesn't make me go somewhere else because I'm interrupting you two." I shake my head playfully and look at him.

"I don't think he'd mind."

I feel someone rubbing my thigh and think it's Jonah again. I smack that hand that was getting closer and closer to my area.

"Ouch" Daniel says. I look down at my thigh and see his hand. I turn red.

"I'm sorry. I thought it was him since he did that me to yesterday."

'him' indicating Jonah.

"Sorry. I shouldn't have done that to begin with. My mistake." He turns facing the front. I bite my lip while smiling and cross my legs. I look back at Zach and he was staring at me. I smile and him and he licks his lips smiling back.

I say out loud not even realizing it, "oh boy."

I hear Daniel slightly laugh and smile to myself. This is gonna be one heck of a high school year.
