3rd person POV

After climbing the stairs, the trio, and guest, found themselves in what looked like an auditorium, a large stage with a red curtain hanging in the back, and a group of people standing around a circle, its edge marked with candles.  John and Sarah stand on the edge, facing the circle, Sherlock examines the room with his back to John, while Quinn walks around the circle, taking in any detail she can about the people and equipment.

Note:

Fairly old equipment

Something large under that sheet

Candles space about foot apart

Circle has a circumference of about 30 feet

She then turned to the people

Cheating on his wife

Recently came into lots of money

Came with her boyfriend

Conclusion: Fairly average people, most leaning toward wealthy

Quinn then made her way back to her three companions, who stood at the other side of the ‘stage,’ and watched as an ornately costumed Chinese woman with a heavily painted face came out, and halted the previous drumming by raising her hand. She walked towards the instrument hidden by the sheet, and it was revealed to be a fairly large crossbow.

The woman took a feather from her headpiece, and dropped it onto the crossbow. The moment the feather hit the bow, the arrow shot from the bow, and slammed into the board opposite. Quinn watched as Sarah jumped dramatically and placed her hand over her heart when it impacted.

The audience applauds as a man dressed in a chainmail and an ornate mask enters the circle, and two other men come strap him to chains attached to the board.

“Classic Chinese escapology act,” Sherlock whispered, oblivious to the woman next to him sneaking behind the curtain. The couple turns to his, and he continues to explain.

Meanwhile, Quinn sneaks past the curtain, and looks at the makeshift backstage. He hears gasps and applause and watches as the warrior stood up and accepted his applause. She closed the curtain again, catching a glimpse of Sherlock staring at the arrow in the board, but not before seeing a new man in mask soar across the room on two long, red bands.

The stage door opened, but Quinn quickly ducked behind a clothes rack, and hid her head as the ornate woman walked in and looked at her phone. Quinn moved, causing the woman to jerk her head towards the now falling coat hanger. She held her breath as the woman neared the rack, but relaxed when she simply walked by. Quinn looked down and saw a bag on the floor near her feet. Flipping it open, she finds several spray cans inside. She picked up one of them and sees that it is labeled “Michigan”. A yellow band is across the bottom of the can denoting the color of the paint.

“Found you,” she whispered in a singsong voice, a trick she picked up after spending so much time with Jim. She stood, and painted an almost perfect horizontal line on the mirror. She smiled at her success, but soon frowned again when she saw the ornate mask the man from earlier wore move ever so slightly. She turned, realizing that it was the actual man, and, as she did, he lashed out at her. As he attacked Quinn with a rather large knife, Sherlock, who stood outside, finally noticed that his female colleague was missing, and noticed how the curtains were billowing lightly, as if there were people moving quickly behind it.
