It's been three years since the events of Shadowlyn. Three years since we killed Ren who turned out to be a werewolf. It seems the legends are true about the place but we put an end to that legend and now he can be a ghost just like the town. Except those events still play in my mind some nights when I'm asleep. Max, Daniel, and Rosie all found a way to cope with it and move on with their lives. Me on the other hand, have not found a complete way. Sometimes I'll be okay and then other times it's the only thing I could think about. Every essay I wrote after that day had been about that place and it's history. Granted I got A's on every essay but it didn't help me get over that night. Sometimes I think back to when Max gave me that soft kiss and chuckle a bit. I loved it but after a few dates we both agreed it was a little awkward and decided to stay like brother and sister. Rosie and Daniel just got married a week ago and are now in Rome on their honeymoon while Max just landed a job in New York so he had to move. I currently work as an intern but when I'm off I skype with Max or read while drinking a glass of wine.
Recently, Shadowlyn and Ren has been on my mind more than usual. I have lost about 16 hours of sleep due to when I start to go into a deep sleep those blood red eyes that were once a bright teal blue comes into my vision causing me to wake up with a sweat. Sometimes the dreams are of him killing me with those sharp teeth or tearing me to shreds with those claws. Others is just him staring at me with lust in his eyes or just staring me down as if he just found his prey. Sometimes it affects my work days other times I can get by without a problem but having these more constantly is going to drive me insane. I shouldn't even be worried about this because I killed him. I watched his body change to human with the blood spilling out of his chest as he fell to the ground. I looked at the lifeless body with his eyes closed no pulse or heart rate what so ever. It was over completely over yet it never left my mind.
I was drinking a glass of red wine as I was looking into my computer screen researching the legend I stopped but to no avail not finding anything useful to ease my mind. Then again how much more information could I find that I didn't already learn when I was in college but I wanted to know every detail I could about that town and its backstory. I know that it had been abandoned for 458 years as of today but nothing on how it became a ghost town just the different speculations. There's the 'a werewolf came in the middle of the night and killed everyone', then the city was in evacuation for unknown reasons but plenty of werewolf stories. One thing I found surprising is I had a great great great grandmother living there before it became a ghost town but she disappeared and just was presumed dead. To many questions ring in my mind about this whole thing even about that night. How did I so easily find that gun and bullet? Why was it such an easy escape? What was going to be Ren's true intentions that night if he succeeded in killing my friends who became family? Why the hell am I still stuck over this? So many questions that's unanswered. To many coincidences to think of the night. I groaned and held my head in frustration.
Once I finished my wine I decided to shut down my computer and head to the bed especially since it was 1:30 in the morning. I put my glass in my dishwasher and walked upstairs to my room putting on a tank top and shorts. I walked to the bathroom that's attached to my room and brushed my teeth. Once I finished and rinsed my mouth with water and stood straight up I almost choked and fell back when I thought I seen red eyes staring back at me in the reflection of the mirror. I turned around but I was completely alone. No other eyes around except mine which is a relief. I turned my fan on high and laid down staring at the ceiling just losing myself in my thoughts until I started freaking myself out wondering if I locked my doors. I shot up ran down and luckily they were all locked and I headed back feeling like someone was watching me. Okay no more excuses on staying up late I need to hurry up and get to bed. I curled under my sheets and closed my eyes until darkness took over. Although, I could swear on my life before I fell asleep I heard a soft rumble nearby.
