"Odinchezor e gbuo mooooooooooo"siad Akara carrying his hand on his head.
He had just happen to hear his brother telling his father what he did this morning which was equal to signing his death warrant.
His mind started thinking of how to sneak out of the compound when he heard his name."Akara!"
"Papa"
His heart travelled to the land of the ancestors several times before he finally reached his father.
"What your brother said,is it true?"
"Papa....I was trying to hold back nshi so before I could greet him he passed"
"Holdng nshi has never been an easy venture.Nshi humbles the greatest of men.Nshi is not something to be joked with.I will ask you for the last time.I have asked you if what your brother said was true but you have given me a reason instead.I will now ask you is what you are saying true?"
"Yes papa"
"Good.Onyenonso?"
Adanyelugo came forward.
"Papa""Tell my second wife to prepare iboro and ofempoto for one person.I want to show my son the rewards of honesty"
"Yes papa "
Nobody questioned Mazi Orjis orders in the house and so the food was prepared.Akara did not understand what was going on but could not refuse the food both ways. When everything was ready for him, every other child in the house had gone to school. He ate the food beside his father who tasted nothing.
"Papa thank sir"
Mazi Orji nodded his head in response.
"Are you full?"
"Yes papa"
"Good.now I want you to go to that tree and do something for me".
"Yes papa"
Akara did not know he was walking into a deathtrap. He walked innocently till he reached the tree.
"Papa what should I do?"
"Now you will stand there and learn a lesson. When you finish learning the lesson, you will never lie with the name of nshi again"
"Papa,I was not lying"
"You will stand there until you learn your lesson"
Saying that he quickly entered the house.
