As she lied in bed, I sat beside her on the grey chair. With her hands in mine, the dim lights blur as I drifted to sleep.
I found myself in a room. The room was blank with nothing in sight except a gleaming red bench. There she beautifully sat with her glimmering brown eyes staring at the blank walls of the room lost in her thoughts. I started to walk towards her as her beautiful features became clearer and clearer with every step I took.
I met her and I begun to sit down on the empty spot beside her on the red bench. I studied her features closely for a while. The way her long chocolate brown hair forms tiny curls. The way her long black lashes curl upwards almost touching her eyelids. The way her chest moves in sync with her light breathing,
"Isn't it weird how two people fall in love? How their heart flutters when they're near and how their heart aches when they're gone" she says softly still staring at the clean white walls. I took a second to soak up her words. "Then love is what I feel for you" I finally spoke. I took her hand that rested on her lap. I curled my fingers into hers. Her soft warm touch in mine sent my heart fluttering.
She turned her head and her eyes met mine. We stared into each other's eyes for a good minute until her lips part "why would you love someone that's dying?" Her eyes gleamed with pure sadness. "You are the strongest person I have ever met. I don't care if you are dying. I love you for you. Nothing could ever change for what I feel for you. Not even death" I said passionately. I noticed a warm smile growing on her lips which I returned the smile.
Her hands broke free from mine as she stood up from the bench that I still sat on. The benches color and gleam faded a bit when she stood up. I looked up at her, "Its almost time" she said quietly. I stood up from the bench and stood next to her. "What do you mean?" I questioned narrowing my eyes at her. She turned to face me "Its almost time for me to leave" she whispered. I looked down at her hands and gently grabbed them in mine once again. "Promise you won't forget me" she said as her face painted with sorrow. "I'll never forget you. I love you" I said sternly looking into her eyes. Her lips gently touched mine. I closed my eyes and let my lips move slowly with hers. She broke free and looked into my eyes, "I love you more" she said with a soft look. "Goodbye" she said weakenly smiling as a tear falls down her cheek. A very bright light starts gleaming in the room. I let go of her hands and she began to walk towards the light. "Goodbye" I whisper while watching her leave with my own eyes. I sat back down onto the bench that was no longer red.
________
A sudden constant ringing filled my ears and caused me to wake. The hospital lights were no longer a blur as I opened my eyes. I looked over at her and noticed her hand was cold and she was no longer breathing. I looked over and saw a flat line on the screen next to the hospital bed. I realized she was gone.
My eyes began to water and tears rolled down my cheeks. I held her hand tight as quiet weeps escaped my lips. Doctors rushed in. One doctor came to me and rubbed my back. They were telling me something but everything was muffled. My heart begun to ache as I stared at my one and only love's lifeless body.
That dream I had, was our last goodbye.
