Princess Sofia was having a play date with her best friend—and boyfriend—Prince Hugo, who had come over to play. But there were ravenous caterpillars nearby, and they offered to get the apples picked from the trees before the caterpillars eat them.

Sofia's older stepbrother and stepsister, James and Amber, came over. They brought their friends Hildegard, Clio, Zandar, and Derek.

"Sofia, do you want to play with us?" Amber asked.

"Prince Hugo can play, too, if he wants," Hildegard chimed in.

But Sofia and Hugo really weren't in the mood to play because they were busy trying to get the apples picked.

"Play now? When there's a swarm of ravenous caterpillars nearby?" Sofia frowned. She and Hugo were desperately picking the apples and putting them in baskets.

"We told King Roland that we'd get these apples picked before they get swarmed on," Hugo declared. "We could use some assistance! He, Queen Miranda, and my dad are bringing the baskets of apples into the castle."

Roland, Miranda, and King Garrick came by.

"How are you coming along?" Miranda asked.

"We've picked half the apples in the orchard, and we still have a lot to take care of," Sofia said desperately.

"Kids, maybe you should help us pick these apples and take them into the castle," Roland suggested. "The more people help, the faster we'll get these inside before the caterpillars come!"

"We can help!" James said. "The girls can take the baskets inside, and the boys can pick the apples."

"Fair enough," Sofia declared.

Amber, Hildegard, and Derek really weren't sure they wanted to help, but since there were caterpillars nearby, they decided to help anyway. The princes picked the apples, and the princesses helped the adults bring the baskets inside. In no time, the trees had no more apples.

"Thank goodness," Sofia sighed.

"Now that the apple trees are bare, you can go and play now," Roland said.

"Thanks, Dad," Sofia smiled.

Sofia and Hugo decided to give the caterpillars leaves to eat. They picked leaves off the apple trees and found the caterpillars.

"I hope these caterpillars turn into butterflies soon, so they can fly south for the winter," Hugo said.

"Me too," Sofia agreed as she held out a leaf.

A caterpillar had eaten the leaf, and it crawled into Sofia's hand, and it started crawling on her arm, making her giggle.

"Oh, that tickles," giggled Sofia.
