Sakuro could clearly remember the night that left him in the hospital and covered in bandages and mental scars. The night that changed him forever. Mentally, and physically.
Sakuro was a Senior in High School, with natural pink hair that went a little past his ears, and he had gentle, magenta eyes. He had a slimmer frame, but he worked out none the less. He always wore a pink or black hoodie, but never any other color. He was the school's Swim Team Captain, and since it was the beginning of the year, he was set for a lot of training with and without the team.
Some would call it cheating, but Sakuro, despite his pink appearance, was a nymph. He could bend the elements to his will if he truly wanted to, however he never really used his 'gift' ever. Even when he could have saved himself.
Sakuro was only in second grade when he lost a part of himself. He woke up one night in his dolphin-themed room to the smell of smoke and the sound of his father yelling and the crackling of the fire. His door fell down, and he saw his brothers and his mother rush past his room.
The little boy tried to follow, but something made him stop in his feet. 'Where's Dad?' he thought, and then he wandered around the fire covered house. He found his father in the kitchen stuck under a burning piece of wood that held up the ceiling, and he saw another man in black jump out the window with a gas can in hand.
Sakuro tried to reach out for his father when something creaked above him. He was shoved to the ground by a burning piece of timber, his stomach against the hot floor and the fire scorching his back. In the distance, he could hear the sirens of the police and an ambulance. The smoke being emitted from the burning house made him feel dizzy and almost weightless even though his back was in so much pain. So much.
The young pinknette gasped for air, and then slowly gave into the gentle calmness of sleep. He could swear his Dad yelled something, but he was unable to say anything back.
After what seemed like only a few seconds of bliss, he awoke to the harsh light of a hospital room and the sizzling pain in his back and the backside of his arms, legs, and neck. He slowly turned his head to see his mother, her pink hair and blue eyes gleaming in the light, crying and holding his hand as he laid there.
He glanced over to the machine beeping with almost a thin line going across it. He felt a small kiss on his forehead, and the creaking of a chair as his mother stood up. he noticed he was attached to numerous machines, along with a mask over his face helping him breathe clean air.
He tried to say something, but his throat was so dry, and so painful, that all he could manage was a pained groan.
His grieving mother called out for a doctor, and the next few minutes were a blur. According to the doctors, he was in a medically induced coma for several months.
Sakuro would never forget that day. The day he lost his father, and gained scars, and the fear of the thing that destroyed him; Fire.
