Love at first sight..

It was a sunny Friday evening. The sun was setting. I was at my friends party, her birthday party. As all 18 year olds celebrate their birthday with alcohol, Ellie wasn't going to break that tradition. 

We were all at her house. It's a small house so everyone had to subtly sneak past eachother while they were in mid conversation. I wasn't exactly in the party mood today but I put on my 'this party is great' face and went to face the music. As I was already 18 and single I was scanning the crowd to see if there happened to be a handsome stranger there... not one. 

"Heeey! Oh my gosh, isn't this party great!" said Charlotte my other best friend who I swear is some sort of party addict. She somehow always appears at everyone's party.                                              

"Hiya. Yeah it is pretty awesome!" I said putting on an enthusiastic face.                                                        

Just as I was speaking to Charlotte her hunky and rather fetching boyfriend, Gordon entered the party in his black skinny jeans and checked shirt. I wasn't going to lie, he was fit. He began to walk over.                        

"Sup girls!" he said with his flattering smile.

"Heeey babe!" Charlotte replied with a massive, totally in love, falling for him smile.

"Sup." I said simply.

The party was raving. Everyone was dancing and singing to the songs. I had been here about 2 hours and spoken to pretty much everyone. It was 10pm and almost dark as the stars were beginning to peer out from the clouds. 

"Hey Kate!" Ellie said suddenly.

"Oh hey! Happy Birthday! This is a great party!" I replied.

"Awh thank you. I was worried people would get bored and leave."

"No, no! It's fabulous darling!" I said winking at her to try and cheer her up.

"Phew thank you! Anyways, I had better go and mingle.. by the way have you seen William?" she asked. William was her boyfriend of 2 months. It's a short period of time to be in a relationship for but they were definitely loved up.

"Nope, sorry. I'm surprised he isn't here. He's always up for a party!" I said curiously.

"Oh. I'm sure he will be here soon!" she said trying to lift her spirits up from disappointment and then she exited the kitchen and left to go and mingle.

I decided to call it a night and head home seeing as it was gone midnight by now and a majority of people were going home anyway. I just reached for my coat when I felt a tall figure stand behind me. I moved aside.

"Oh sorry!" I said embarressed.

"Don't worry gorgeous!" He said reassuringly and with what sounded like an American acsent.

I turned around. He was tall and had strong broad shoulders, he had dark brown hair, chocolate coloured eyes, tanned skin and perfect lips and teeth. It was definitely love at first sight because I felt like I was floating on clouds and the music seemed to fade out as we both starred and smiled at eachother for seconds endlessly. I could then hear someone's voice begin to start shouting my name.

"Kate! Kate!" Ellie said franticly.

My brain suddenly comprehended that someone was talking to me and I quickly zoned out from this lifelong stare with this utterly handsome stranger. He smiled at me. OMG! He smiled at me!

"Yes, sorry uh what's happened?!" I said thinking there must of been something wrong if she were to interupt 'the stare'. She turned to stand by this guy.

"This is Austin! He is my Mum's work friends son! They have just moved from America."

"Hey, nice to meet you. I'm Kate!" I said maybe a bit too eagerly.

"Pleasure to meet you, Kate. Ellie has told me all about you!" He replied with a flirty sound to his low and rather sexy voice.

"Oh has she now. Nothing bad I hope!" I said looking at her with my 'this guy is hot you had better not of screwed this up for me' face. She just smiled.

"No nothing bad, it's all good, I promise!" He said winking at me.

"Awesome!" I said smiling uncontrollably back at him. 

Ellie has left by now and was busy mingling and I suddenly didn't want to leave but I was starting to feel tired of all the screaming and shouting.

"It was great to meet you Austin but I really should head back home." I said sadly.

"Oh right, ok. Maybe I can get your number?" He said hopefully.

"Sure." 

I gave him my number and put a quick message at the end.

I could feel these butterflies... or wasps in my stomach making me smile. I watched as his eyes scanned the note and watched as the corners of his mouth began to curve into an attractive and heart melting smile.

I left at that moment so he would feel curious as to who I am and would potentially follow me but he didn't. I got into my car and headed off home.... what a night!
