“There must be another way!”
“Sorry, but it seems you have no other choice.” The teacher replied.
“Miss, please. I’ll do anything. Can’t I just retake another math class?” I argued.
“No exceptions! You are not the only grade A student here, missy! I’m sorry, but the whole world doesn’t revolve around you. Take the class and no more arguments! Lastly, you may not call me ‘miss’ any longer. You are to respectably call me Ms.Lemmon! As you can see the name is written on the board in front of you.” She argued with stronger will.
I sat down. Resting my case. I couldn’t argue with another teacher. Not after freaking out Mr.Kineford in the previous period. In utter silence. Shy of red on my cheeks, cause by complete embarrassment. I hadn’t noticed the name written on the board. As soon as she let her gaze go, Ms.Lemmon had continued calling the names out to the rest of the class.
“Fichiosy and Fielder.” she called.
I sat there quietly. To my right was Kobe as he read all the posters around the room. Twisting around. Like a child. I missed him. I stared at him for a long period of time. Hadn’t I noticed til now. I quickly turned away again.
I looked to him again, and to my surprise he was already looking at me. We made direct eye contact, his eyes were beautiful. Before I could start thinking of everything perfect about him, I snapped out of it. I can’t go through this again. We held our eye contact.
He smiled and suddenly handed me a post it note. I turned to Lemmon and saw that she paid no attention to us. I accepted the note and opened it.
‘A bit too sour for someone name Lemmon, yeah? :)’
I dug into my bag for a pen before writing back and passing it to him.
‘Just the right amount, Hah.’
He chuckled and looked back at me smiling. Knowing me, I would smile back. And so I did.
Right after class, Kobe asked to have a coffee. We decided to have go at the cafe that was a neighbor to the school. Kobe rambled about how excited he was about trying all their beverages and delicacies. I guess the cafe was new, but I wouldn’t know. Because, I as well. Am new.
“We’ve got five minutes to head back into campus, we ought to hurry then, yeah?” Kobe reported to me as we walked into the cafe.
It had a rustic touch to it. It looked worn down, for a new place. It had an odd smell, not your usual coffee aroma. The smell almost reminded me of a hospital. I feel right at home.
Kobe ordered for the both of us and even paid for the lot. We walked back in campus with our lattes and muffins in hand just in time for the next class to start. Kobe walking straight into the next classroom beside my biology class I quickly stopped him in his tracks.
