My New Surprise

See here is the thing, when I saw this man something was off. He cleaned up to meet me and almost cleaned up too much. I cringed a little bit when I first met him but I thought maybe this one was different, or at least I hoped for once.

"Hello there, I'm Edward and you must be Kendra correct?"

I nod my head.

"Here let me help you with your bag."

I snatch it away before he could touch it. "I got it."

"Okay you look very strong I like it." He grinned like the cheshire cat and that made me nervous. "Ready to go?"

I nod and we walked out the door to his old truck. It looked like about 1968 Ford with manual locks. Good that way if I need out I know I can.I keep looking around for more clues and I see some empty beer bottles in the back. But he starts the old thing up and we drive down the road. The whole trip was quiet and that surprised me just a little but I wasn't going to be the one to make conversation you can bet on that. And I noticed that he lived just outside the city in a regular neighborhood. And had some neighbors, and one caught my eye. He was taller than me with olive skin and looked strong. But we arrived at the house, it was older pained a regular grey color and was average size. I didn't mind I just wanted to get in the house and sleep, that is when he spoke for the first time since we left.

"Your room is upstairs on the left. I am going to go out for a little bit I'll be back around 11 maybe."

I was about to take a bold step and what I didn't see coming was a shock to me.

"What about some food? Like dinner perhaps, what are we going to do about that?"

"You are old enough go feed yourself. There should be something for you to eat in that house." He glared at me like I should of know better than to ask.

"I'm sorry, I won't ask again."

He smiled a very little bit and said "Also you start school tomorrow, all the papers and stuff is in the house." and with that he sped off.

I decided to go in the house and see what I was brought into. But when got in I was surprised. Beer bottles were everywhere and there were holes in the wall. But the weird thing was that my room was the only one untouched. And there was a window right across the way from another room next door and there was a boy about my age standing in it. So I looked over and before I realized I was staring, he looked over. I turn away as fast as I can and then slowly turn around to see if he is there still. And he is! But this time he was looking at me, and he waved then ran to go get something from his room on the other side. He was writing something down on paper then he held it up and it said:

Meet me in the yard we can talk
