When I stepped into my grandparents house once again after almost 2 years it hadn't changed a bit. That old smell hit my nose and made me smile because I had missed that. I looked around and saw my grandfather sitting in his chair. I ran to him with my arms wide open and I hugged him like I had never hugged anyone before. He's smile was wide and welcoming. Tears fell down my face as I stood up and looked at him after all the time away from him. He gestured for me to come close and he whispered in my ear.
"Let's watch some cartoons together" His voice was soft and caring.
I nodded and wiped the tears away, we always watched cartoons together. I sat down on his chair with him and he turned the TV on. As I watched the cartoons grandad got up and walked out of the room. I waited there for him but he never returned...I got up and looked around the house for him but the house became a church with a coffin at the front. Everyone's crying filled the silence, I slowly made my way up to the coffin confused as to what was happening. When the coffin was opened my mouth dropped open and I burst into tears. It was my best friend....my grandfather laying there lifeless and one single tear laid on his cheek. I wiped it away and placed a bouquet of flowers on his chest. After the funeral they asked me to leave so they could take the body away and I refused because I was staying with him for all eternity, never leaving his side...ever. They got security but I grabbed onto the coffin as they tried to pull me away.
"NOOO! I NEED TO BE WITH HIM!" I screamed while tears flooded my cheeks.
I closed my eyes for a second and when I reopened them, there he was, standing in his tails. I walked toward him but every step I took made him disappear more. I called his name but there was no response just silence. Then he spoke four words that made me fall to my knees.
"My number one girl" his voice echoed through my head.
"Where am I grandad?" I asked but he walked into the light before I could grab his hand. I looked around the light space and followed my grandfather. I heard voices that spoke...
"She must have died from heartbreak"
"NO! Not my daughter too!"
"I'm so sorry ma'am"
I faded away into nothingness...
