Having spent two months on the country side, I was fortunate enough to spend time connecting with Mother Nature. The beautiful scenery, fresh and amazing flowers from wild oozed out the fragrances that drew could draw someone’s attention to the surrounding. This brought my wondering mind to the amazing and colorful butterflies that were all around me. Yes butterflies caught my attention. Different colors sizes and shapes as they flew about without any care in the world. Going about their business in search of nectar and closing their precious and delicate wings to take a break from the hard work. I was in awe of the captivating site.
Not minding me they flew to and fro. Mostly, I longed for my camera or even my phone to capture the insanely magnificent aura that was all around me. Too bad all that went to waste.
During those quiet and lonely moments, questions filled my mind and curiosity took over me. I remembered my science classes going through the growth process of butterflies and how they are transformed to the beauty that surrounded me.
To me butterflies have always had a deeper meaning. They represent transformation of ideas into fruitful actions, going through all the stages to finally achieve a desired goal. They do not just represent and complete a niche in nature but also their beauty and color provides a balance to nature. Imagine if there were no butterflies in existence, what would happen?
“Beauty, vibrant colors and ceaseless action…well that’s what you see when you spot a butterfly. However if you look beyond this external charm, you will also see hope, celebration and transformation. That’s what’s fluttering about butterflies.” – Anonymous.
Standing there made me realize that each one of us has an opportunity of becoming a butterfly in everything we do. We can choose to make it beautiful and successful: Transforming from delicate through ugly and gross to finally make something that is lovable, attractive and that which draws people to us or we can give up before reaching our final destinations (goals or dreams).
Have you ever thought of yourself as a butterfly? Well I have, not once or twice but many times. All the phases they go through as a matter of fact. Not only the pretty and colorful part of it but also the egg stage, through to the larvae and pupa stages too. In my short lifetime, I have come to appreciate that we all at one point or another in our lives have been butterflies. This has led me to believe that life can be equated to that of a butterfly.
Butterflies are known to represent something beautiful. This is true although they do not start off looking beautiful. There is a process they undergo to become butterflies. First an egg is laid. It matures to larva, pupa and finally adult and the process starts again.
Try to picture your life to this point in time. Whether it is financial, spiritual, physical, emotional or even psychological we have had to start somewhere and always end up somewhere and the journey begins a new with each passing day. That is how we resemble butterflies.
We set up goals that will impact our future and strive to live up to them. Butterflies to tend to have a specific channel they have to follow. We too have channels we can follow.
There are many steps that can be taken in order to become a butterfly. Allow me to take you through some as we discover our journeys to becoming butterflies together.
