I looked up at the tall, red-headed man as he stared at his dad getting on the elevator and going down. Once he was snapped out of his daze, he blinked a couple of times and then snapped his attention back towards me.

"Oh, ummm... So. What the hell do I do now? I've never owned someone before. Especially not one with cat ears and a tail." He said.

I didn't say anything. When I was in my cage I wasn't allowed to speak freely. I was only able to answer questions when they asked me about if I'm sick or not.

"Are you okay?" He asked me, waving his hand in front of my face.

I stared at him confused and blinked a couple of times when I saw his hand in front of me.

"You don't talk much do you? This is gonna be so awkward now. Wait. Do you not speak English? Maybe that's what it is. You can't understand me at all, right?" He inspected my face as he waited for an answer.

I slowly opened my mouth to say, "N-No, I speak English."

"Okay, that's good. I'd probably go crazy if you didn't. I would have to sit here and just listen to myself talk all day while you stare at me with that confused face, not knowing what I'm saying at all and--." He stopped talking for a minute.

"Dammit! I did it again! Sorry, sometimes I just start talking and it never ends because I just keep rambling and not really think about..." He went silent once again. "I'm just gonna stop talking now."

He walked me into his home and sat down. He rubbed his hands on his face in an exasperated manner and let out a sigh.

"OH! I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Felix by the way. What about you? Do you have a name?"

"Ummm... (Y/N)." I said in a small voice.

"Really? That's a beautiful name." He told me.

"So... Wanna watch TV or somethin'?" He asked.

"I don't know what that is."

"Oh man. That must suck ass.I guess we'll do something different then. How about... A board game?" He said after a long pause.

I felt my eyes fill up with tears as the painful memories of Owen filled my mind. I looked away from Felix as he tried to comfort and apologize to me me while I tried to keep my sobs down to a low whimper.

"(Y/N), I'm so sorry. I don't know what I did wrong. Do you not like board games that much?"

I cried slightly louder when he said 'board games' again. I wanted to play a game, but I feel like it would be too much pain for me to avoid.

"Fine. Ummm... We'll do something different. Like... Eating." He mumbled the last part as he walked off into a different part of his large house. I stood in one spot, not wanting to get into any trouble.

"(Y/N), come in here. I'm gonna make grilled cheese sandwiches." He called out.

I obeyed him and walked closer to him, but still keeping my distance.

"I hope you like grilled cheese." He said with a cheery voice and a closed eye smile.

"I-I've never had it before. I don't exactly know what it is."

He turned to me with a shocked expression, his mouth hanging open and his eyes wide, like he had just seen a human-toad mutation.

"Come over here right now! I need to show you how it's done." He said it louder than I had expected, which scared me at first, until I saw his happy face beaming at me.

Then he turned back to what he was doing and mumbled, "Never had a grilled cheese sandwich before... She must've been raised by wolves to go that long without knowing what one of the best foods in the world is."

"Do you know what this is?" He said to me as he held up a strange looking object.

"A grilled cheese sandwich?" I asked.

"What?! No! This is a spatula. You use it for flipping over food in a pan when it needs to be cooked on the other side."

"What's a pan?"

"I'm gonna have to make you some flash cards for this. Before you ask, flash cards are what people use for remembering--"

"I know what flash cards are." I cut him off.

"Okay, that's good. At least you know something."

I sat down with Felix as I took my first bite of the grilled cheese, my mouth filled with the cheese and bread, as Felix had called it. I had never been used to eating food with flavour.

"You look really happy now." He said with a slight chuckle and a grin.

"Mmm-hmm!"

I saw his hand move closer to my face, but then he suddenly started to pat my head. I stiffened with shock, but I slowly closed my eyes and relaxed as we sat together on the couch. After a while I started to feel him move closer to me as he grabbed my shoulder and moved my head toward his chest.

His eyes closed slowly as I saw him start to fall asleep. His other arm came around and pulled me even closer into his chest. I tried to move around a bit, but his grip was too tight and I didn't want to wake him.

I moved the plate off of his lap and placed it on the dining table that was directly in front of us and then I sat there in his arms for what seemed like forever, until I slowly fell asleep as well.
