♥ Chapter 2~ Putting The Plan Into Motion ♥
I stood in front of the door that led to the newsroom.
I’d been in there countless times, but this was the first time I’d be in there as an official member of the news team. I’d wanted to be a journalist since the 5th grade when we took a field trip to our local newspaper’s HQ and I was finally going to be able to take my first steps towards my future.
I couldn’t think about the fact that I had no idea how I was going to pull off this assignment, all I could think about in that moment was making it in and out of the meeting in one piece.
I took a deep breath and wiped my sweaty palms on my jeans. I was about to open the door when I heard a voice behind me.
"You going in?” They asked. I felt my cheeks start to burn and I slowly turned to face the person who was now only a few inches away from me. I looked up into the eyes of a boy whose name I didn’t know. What I did know however was that he was a Senior and that he was also on the paper with me.
Saying that I was embarrassed was a huge understatement. I was mortified. How many normal people stand in front of doors just staring at them? The answer’s none.
I cleared my throat and then answered quietly. “Um, yeah.” It came out sounding like a squeak. I mentally groaned. Did I seriously have to continually embarrass myself?
He smiled. “Well that makes two of us then.” He leaned forward and my heart stopped. What was he doing?
I was too focused on his piercing blue eyes to notice that he had leaned forward to grab a hold of the door handle, not my lips. My face continued to redden and my humiliation only escalated. Only then did I realise that my lips were slightly puckered and I quickly put my hand in front of my mouth and faked a very over exaggerated coughing fit.
Maybe if I’d coughed hysterically enough then he would’ve noticed my puckered lips.
He raised an eyebrow and an amused smile started to break out onto his lips. “You alright?” He asked and I nodded. With one last not very convincing cough I cleared my throat and apologised.
“Ok well, after you then.” He said with a grand hand gesture and a breathtaking grin. I’d say guess what I did next but it doesn't take a scientist to figure out that yes, I indeed blushed some more.
I walked in to find that the meeting had already started. Talia stopped talking and turned to face the mystery boy and I. She smiled at our arrival, despite our tardiness, and gestured to a few empty seats that were in a circle facing her. I took that as an invitation to sit and so did the mystery boy. We both made our way around the circle and sat in the empty chairs.
