Chapter Four: The Woman In The Hills

3 1 1

"Slow down, Carol." Lt. Paige looks me in the eye. Her worry is evident, but her effort to cover it up is impressive.
"There is a woman in the woods. She kidnapped me. She put me in a sadistic claustrophobia chamber. I escaped. Go into the woods. Find the mine. Arrest her." I enunciate each word as if she was a five year old.
"We've searched the area five times. Even sent Hazmat units into the danger zone. No underground mine like you've been saying." Lt. Paige worry isn't about my safety, it's about my sanity.
"Get off me. If you won't trust me then I won't trust your department with my safety." I storm out of the interrogation room, into the lobby, and then out into the street, where I get into my Lamborghini and I drive.

It's only after a half hour off driving that I decide music would calm me down. I put on the song "Glory" by Hollywood Undead.

Welcome to the world you see,
An AK with a couple magazines.
Whose blood it is, don't matter to me.
Scatter the ashes over seven seas,
That sickness, that feeling inside you,
That's weakness, don't let it divide you.
Keep this, that feeling of pride too.
Digging up bones but you bury the truth,

Children, hypocrisy,
That's what I give, you can take it from me.
If you don't, won't live to see,
One last act of tragedy.
No mother's heart can make me humble,
No life lost can make me stumble,
Our empire will never crumble...

We did it for the glory,
The glory,
Only the glory...
We live inside a story,
It's a story,
All for the glory...

Bullets, begin to strip,
A man of reason?
He's a man of sin.
The men of treason are the ones who live,
They'll take what you got, what you got to give,
Then pyre, a trial by fire,
They're liars, like funeral pyres.
The letter to a mother from across the sea,
A son in a box buried beneath,
For whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee,
For whom they saw when they put you to sleep,
A deal with the devil is a deal with me,
That deal is forever; as long as you breathe,
Go forth child; make us proud,
Honor is yours; underground.
Know we love you, lay you down...

We did it for the glory,
The glory,
Only the glory...
We live inside a story,
It's a story,
All for the glory...

Nobody runs!
Nobody runs!
Nobody runs or makes it out alive...
Nobody runs!
Nobody runs!
Nobody runs or makes it out alive...

Hearts beating faster running to the front lines,
Nobody runs or makes it out alive...
Look up to heaven as it rains from the sky,
Nobody runs or makes it out alive!

Out alive...

Because we did it for the glory,
The glory,
Only the glory...
We live inside a story,
It's a story,
All for the glory...

The glory...
The glory...
The glory...
We did it for the glory,
The glory,
For the glory!

It's not much longer till I realize how I have nowhere to go. No home, no family, no friends, no one. I pull over, and think about where to go, while I look for the next song. I decide to go with Las Angeles, the City of Angels. I play my personal nightcore minimix.

Whose blood it is, don't matter to me,
Scatter the ashes over seven seas.
That sickness, that feeling inside you,
That's weakness, don't let it divide you,
Keep this, that feeling of pride too.

I'd give it all just to have, have your eternity.
Cause it's all that assures me,
It's worth all that hurts me....

I'd give you my heart,
And I'd let you just hold it.
I'd give you my soul,
But I already sold it...

Take me high and I'll sing,
Oh you make everything okay (okay, okay),
We are one in the same,
Oh you take all of the pain away (away, away)...
Save me if I become,
My demons.

I cannot stop this sickness taking over,
It takes control and drags me into nowhere,
I need your help, I can't fight this forever,
I know you're watching,,
I can feel you out there,
I am not afraid to try,
(you're gonna know my name, my story!)
Live this life before I die,
(Not gonna stop 'til I see glory, see glory, see glory!)
You're gonna know my name!

Hey world, look at me.
I just wanna tell my story.
I was born with destiny,
And I'm not gonna be nobody.

Hey world, look at me,
I just wanna tell my story.
I was born with destiny,
And I just wanna be somebody...

They say it's not the answer but I can't carry on,
'Cause I got nowhere, no one, without you, girl, I'm done,
And when I'm gone, remember you're the one,
And just because I fight don't mean that I never learned how to love.
You know devils don't fly (fly, fly),
So don't expect me not to fall,
Devils don't fly (fly, fly),
But God we almost had it all,
But I got chains and you got wings,
You know that life ain't fair sometimes...

Devils don't fly (fly, fly),
But I try.

I'm surprised it got so far.
Things aren't the way they were before,
You wouldn't even recognize me anymore.
Not that you knew me back then,
But it all comes back to me in the end,
You kept everything inside,
And even though I tried, it all fell apart,
What it meant to me, will eventually be, a memory, of a time when,
I tried so hard,
And got so far,
But in the end,
It doesn't even matter...

I had to fall,
To lose it all,
But in the end,
It doesn't even matter...
I've put my trust in you,
Pushed as far as I can go,
For all this,
There's only one thing you should know...
I tried so hard,
And got so far,
But in the end,
It doesn't even matter.
I had to fall,
To lose it all,
But in the end,

It doesn't even matter...

I let time flow at whatever irregular rate as I pass exit by exit, driving down the country. Purgatory, Oregon is about thirteen hours away from Las Angeles, so I just let my Soundcloud choose the music for me.
