Have you ever had a secret or had someone keep a secret from you. For Maddy, the secret was her life. It was a sickness. Her mother was a doctor. She was broken from losing her husband and son. She over reacted when Maddy started getting sick as a child. She then took everything from Maddy.'Everything, Everything' is a book written by Nicola Yoon. It is a captivating romance of Maddy learning and taking interest of a knew world, at first behind her mothers back.
The book is about a teenage girl named Madeline who has severe combined immunodeficiency better known as SCID. It means she has very little or no immune system. As a result of this, her body is then not able to fight off infections. Maddy stays indoors. She has never been outside since she was just 4 years old. She is unable to leave the protection of the hermetically-sealed environment within her house because of her illness. Her house has an air lock which means no non-filtered air can go in or out. Her clothes are steamed and her hobbies consist of reading.
Olly is the boy next door who won't let that stop them from being together. Gazing through windows and talking only through texts, Maddy and Olly form a deep bond that leads Maddy to risk her life to be with him, even if it means losing everything.
I enjoyed this novel because (1) I absolutely love romance and (2) it is different. I have not yet read another book quite like this one. I loved the way the author made me think about a world without experiencing life's beauties. All the things you experience as you grow up and make your friends and go through school and go to prom and find your first career and get married and have kids and so on. It made me feel more grateful of the life I have and also gave me a knew understanding of why things are the way they happen. Why one action can completely change a scenario. The thing I find the most interesting about this book is that it makes you realise that there are so many special moments in our lives that are important to the growing of ourselves. Without one thing happening we could be a completely different person.
For these reasons and the explaining of how it affected me after I read it I encourage you strongly to read this book as it might give you a different pleasure in life and help you experience the tiny things in life like they are the greatest thing that has ever happened.
Because whop knows, you might find out that there is a secret that will change you and you will not know where to head to because your life story has gone upside down. But trust me. It is for the best. Because you will experience life in a much more happy state.
