Leviathan
“Darcel, you know it’s against our own rules to hurt a human. Our goal is to make them our allies, don’t you remember that? If we end up killing her, we may lose our only chance of finding one of the biggest rebel groups,” I tell my brother. He frowns at my obvious lack of apathy or, rather, my ignorance towards my own race. I am the Second Prince of Endralle and as such, pitying the pathetic, captured human is not and should not be part of my blood.
I try to convince myself that I do not pity her. I simply need the information she could possibly give under torture, maybe, but I know these humans well enough. Especially these rebels. They’d rather die than reveal what they know.
“So are you saying that Dimitri’s completely unnecessary for this action?” Darcel, the First Prince of Endralle, responds to me. Honestly, it is the kind of response I am expecting. Among the three of us, The Three High Princes of Endralle, he is the one who has the pure Endrallian blood running in his system. I knew he’d plan to use Dimitri for the girl.
I try to formulate a detailed response to it, something that may tuck some sense into him, but—
“Yes, yes. That’s what I am implying.” That’s the best I got.
His eyes – those red eyes with cat-like pupils – glance around the empty Gathering Hall of the Palace as he, I assume, ponders on my suggestion. I am firm that I have a point. We need the girl, we need the group. Alive. If we want to win this unvoiced-out war, we need all the humans we can get.
And I am firm that I don’t need the whole human population thinking that we are, indeed, demons.
“Who’s with the girl now?” Darcel asks.
“Dimitri and Laufeia,” I respond.
“Laufeia, hmm…” He ponders again.
Christina
Throb. Throb. Throb. My head tortures while I attempt to open my eyes. Are my eyes glued shut? I can’t open them. The darkness and the sickening realization of being captured are killing me. Thump. Thump. Thump. My heart is ready to escape my chest at any given moment. I hate the Endrallians and the Asthrallians, but I never thought I would be this nervous when something like this comes.
And I knew it would come.
And now it’s here.
”You’re awake now, aren’t you?” A female voice says. I hear a quick snap and then I feel my eyes opening extremely and unnaturally wide, it hurt. I know Endrallians controlled our power and energy – I never thought they had some sort of special abilities, too.
Stupid, Christina. They’re spawns of demons, after all.
On the contrary, the female right in front of me is very pretty. Her eyes were crimson and they seem to glow in the dark. I look at her from head to toe and I think she’s a lot taller than me. Her body is absolutely perfect. Her curves are all big and slim in the right places, it makes me feel so tiny and unattractive. I stare at her in awe but she doesn’t mirror the same expression. Instead, she looks at me as if she’s ready to delete me from the phase of this world at any given moment.
Her beauty distracts me from my true anger towards these creatures.
“Fei, go easy on her,” A male voice says. I squint my eyes to see where the voice comes from. On the far end of the room stood a young man who rests his back on the frame of the door. I can’t see him clearly from where I sit but his voice is enough to send shivers down my spine.
