The next morning, Lauren woke up bright and early. She got dressed into a clean and ironed school uniform, and went downstairs to eat breakfast.
"Well, look who's up early!" Her Mum said to her as soon as she entered the room.
"Hey Mum," Lauren replied, meaning to say something else but no words seemed to come out. She sat downbeat the bench and looked down at her hands, laying in her lap.
"Lauren, dear, are feeling ok? Do you have fever," She asked, worried, and putting her hand on her daughters forehead.
"Mum, don't worry I'm completely fine. I was just up late last night studying," Lauren said. Most of that was true. She was studying until Sam called her.
"Ok then. There is some cereal in the cupboard and some milk in the lower compartment of the fridge," Her Mum had decided to leave the subject alone.

Lauren quickly ate breakfast, got her school satchel and books, then headed out down the street and a few blocks over to her school. After all, a smart, clean record student could not be late to, yet another, day of school and studying.

Sam was standing just outside the schools high bared gates. Lauren walked towards her, head down. As weird as it may sound Lauren was quite a mysterious girl. But still, lots of boys at the school liked her Sam was the same, just not as introverted as Lauren.
"Hey, Lauren! Over here!" Sam yelled across the courtyard. She put her back on the ground and sat as well, then motioned for Lauren to come and sit beside her. She sat next to Sam and said with as much confidence as she had;
"Sam, I have decided to tell Ethan. I just can't live like this any longer."
"Good on you , Girl! I will see you after my technology class, pop quiz today," Sam said, full of enthusiasm for her friend.
"Ok then, I shall talk to you later."

Lauren held her school text books, to her chest, and inhaled slowly. She enter red the schools main building, and saw Ethan turning the corner in front of her, and quickened her pace in order to catch up with him. Eventually she did, and walked by his side.

Ethan noticed she was there, looked down at the for a moment, and then gave her a hug. She felt warm and safe in his strong arms. A feeling of regret rushed over her. How could she  have doubted such a loyal and thoughtful person, such and Ethan? She felt awful for all the things she had said to Sam about him, and all the things she had thought to herself. She wrapped her arms around his waist, Then Ethan pulled out of the hug and playfully kissed her instead. A warm feeling rushed down he spine. That is the feeling of true love, she told herself. But we all kid ourselves at some point in our lives...
