From the Spirit Realm

Chapter 1-1

I've been living here for over a year now and I can gladly say that its safe enough here for the most part. My job here hasn't been too difficult, especially since I have two of my friends with me. Miko and Christina have been my friends since we were all little kids. Living here in Talikara, the human realm, hasn't been that difficult since the first few months we all got here, considering we were having trouble masking our instincts. Animal instincts are hard to ignore, so we basically had to learn how to conceal them. It became easier over time and now we know how to blend in with the humans perfectly. Being in high school is nothing compared to where I'm from because bullies and rumors are minuscule to what I deal with back home. Where we come from we have to worry about being sucked dry of our energy or attacked by small mobs. Where are we from exactly? My friends and I come from another realm that goes by the name Chisala, also known as the spirit realm. We are spirits somewhat, Ferals to be exact. Ferals are animal-like spirits that have the ability to take human form, beast form, and can also wield the elements.

Things weren't always this way in Talikara. It was usually common for creatures to live amongst humans, but now we must keep our identities hidden from them. Having portals open to other realms wasn't uncommon in the past, but now it's a problem. We Ferals are the only ones that can close portals since we have the necessary instrument to do so, the Crystala. A Crystala is a band with a crystal in the center, called Sylphite, that comes from Talikara and it has the power to do many things other than just closing and opening portals. The Crystala can also seal the power of Ferals temporarily as well as detect the energies of spirits or any flux in any realm, like when a portal is breached. Us Ferals are equipped with Crystalas for the sole purpose of protecting Talikara from any breaches of other creatures from other realms. There are 6 other realms, besides Talikara and Chisala, that exist in the world. That wasn't always the case, but that is a story for later because first I need to explain what it is that the Ferals do here in Talikara.

Currently, Miko, Christina and I are attending a high school here in America. Specifically, we are stationed here in Orange County in California because we are in charge of protecting it from being breached by other creatures that may endanger the human species and risk being discovered by them. Three Ferals have been stationed in every county in every state in America and ten are stationed in every country outside of America. We didn't always have to hide from the humans, but thanks to the calamity that happened a thousand years ago, we no longer have a choice. Aerial creatures and humans used to live in peace, along with the spirits that now reside in Chisala, the spirit realm. We all cohabited in Talikara and enjoyed our lives there, but of course, our realm wasn't the only one that existed at the time. There was also Lyllia, Varkin, and Zyphernia that existed. Lyllia was known as the fantastical realm where creatures like fairies, elves, mages, sirens, pixies, dwarves, griffons, pegasi, and many other fantastical creatures resided and lived amongst each other. Varkin was known as the beast realm where creatures like giants, ogres, lizardmen, trolls, dragons, enormous jungle animals and all kinds of scary and weird beings lived together in harmony. Lastly, Zyphernia was known as the dark realm and nobody really knew much about it except for the fact that anyone who goes there never comes back. Darkness surrounds the place like a void of shadows. As far as what lives there, well, there are vampires, werewolves, succubi and other evil creatures. But worst of all there are these things we call shadow creatures because they take no physical form and all you see are their glowing red eyes as they move around leaving darkness and devastation in their path.

The calamity happened one day when the shadow creatures traveled to Talikara and caused rage into everyones hearts that were all invited to the Grand Festival, a festival that occurred every century for the creatures of every realm. Soon everyone was fighting each other over simple matters and began destroying everything. Long after the shadow creatures returned to their realm, the damage had already been done even though everyone had snapped back to reality moments later. Then, the highest ranking creatures from Lyllia, Varkin, and Talikara had a meeting about what to do about the chaos that had just unfolded. They came to the conclusion of separating nearly everyone into new realms that were created to prevent this from happening again. So the spirits that lived in Talikara were sent to a new realm called Chisala, the sky creatures from Talikara moved to their new realm called Skaravia, and the humans stayed in Talikara. The sea creatures and marine life that lived in Lyllia had a realm created for them known as Aquavia and the remaining creatures stayed in Lyllia. The lizardmen and other reptilian monsters resided in their own realm called Fentir, and the remaining monsters stayed inside of Varkin. Even though the new realms separated us all, that didnt break the bond we all shared.
