So far, things have been quiet and that means I can continue living a high school life in order to protect everyone here. As I walk these halls that I have become to know, I see Miko approach me.

"Hey Kiara, you look spaced out again," she said while shaking her head at me.

"Oh, I do? I just can't shake the anticipation I guess. I haven't done a mission in over a month Miko" I say in a bit of a whiny tone.

"I understand, but isn't it a good thing that nothing has been happening here? I've honestly grown to like living here and I'm usually the one begging for action" she said as she laughed.

"I guess youre right, but high school life isn't all that exciting to me anymore," I say in a sad tone. "I miss home."

"I miss home too, but don't worry about it because we have a job to do. We are barely starting the sophomore year here, so I am sure that things will get more exciting" Miko said with a smile as she patted my shoulder. She wasn't wrong when she said that. We have a job to do and things are sure to pick up around here sooner or later. We continued on to class, but as we walked away, there was a boy that had been staring at us from a distance.

I enter my class and sit in my seat quietly as I wait for instructions from the art teacher. I take out my notebook and doodle inside of it as I continue to daydream about my life back home. I happen to glance over to my right just to see a brown-haired boy with hazel eyes staring in my direction, but he quickly looks away after figuring out that I noticed him. I look back to my doodle in my notebook of a wolf when the teacher suddenly speaks up.

"Today I will be partnering you all for an assignment," the teacher said in a loud voice. "The assignment will be telling a story through painting an image." The class all made a moaning sound of annoyance simultaneously, I included. Doing homework was never fun and now we have to work together with people we don't even get to choose. That's when the teacher looked at me.

"Kiara, I am pairing you up with Michael for this assignment," said the teacher as he pointed to the brown-haired boy from earlier.

"That's who I have to work with?" I simply ask.

"Yes, that's right. Is that going to be a problem?" he asked in an annoyed tone.

"Not at all, sir. I just wanted to be sure of who my partner was going to be," I say as I look over to Michael who is averting his eyes from mine, still embarrassed from being caught earlier.

The class had finally ended, so I left my seat and grabbed my bag on the way out. Suddenly, I feel a tap on my right shoulder and I turn around. It was Michael and he looked like he had something to say. I look at him and wait for him to say something when he suddenly opened his mouth.

"Hey, I just wanted to clear something up with you since we are partners for this project. I'm not some kind of weirdo if that was what you were thinking," he said worriedly. I look at him for a few seconds before I reply.

"Are you saying this because I caught you staring at me?" I say to him and he jolts a bit.

"No, I wasn't staring at you! At least not in the way that you think. I was actually looking at your bracelet," he said a bit embarrassed. "I was wondering where you got it from and stuff because it looks pretty exotic."

"Oh, this? It was a gift and it was made for me and my two friends have one too," I say trying to hide my anguish.

"Well, it's very nice. It has a beautiful crystal," he says with a smile and we both exit the classroom. I was smiling too at this point and then I replied.

"Well thank you. It's very special and means a lot to me." I figured that maybe this guy wasn't half bad, but I still have to keep an eye out.
