James was right, the summer was absolutely horrible. Perhaps even worse, he had never hated people quite like he hated the Dursleys. Petunia came around when his father grew up but now all the Dursley's feared him as if he and Harry had some disease that they might catch. If they paid even the smallest bit of attention they'd realize that wasn't how magic worked! At the moment James and Harry were sitting on swings in an old playground that the neighborhood kids had long since abandoned. They weren't talking, they had been temporarily kicked out of the house do to Hedwig making a bit of a noise. Dudley had thrown pebbles at her as she soared around the house landing in a tree, she had flown back into the house and had started screeching. Neither Harry or James blamed Hedwig because after all, it was Dudley's fault. Someone needed to teach that lump of a boy what animal cruelty was. They had decided to go to the park that they normally had all to themselves, they weren't here a lot. Dudley's gang didn't usually come here so they had a harder time finding them. Of course, they could hold their own ground but if Dudley came back with so much as a bruise Mr. and Mrs. Dursley would snap.

"What do you suppose Hermione and Ron are up to?" Harry asked after a moment. While Harry's mind was thinking about his friends around the country James was thinking about his own family and friends, many of whom weren't even born yet.

"I don't know, Hermione might be on vacation now, she said she would be leaving when she sent that letter last week. As for Ron, he's probably at the Burrow," James told him, it was true Hermione had previously sent a letter saying she was going on vacation for two weeks. It was only mid-July but to James, it felt as if he had been there for ages.
"Yeah, your probably right."

"Do you want to talk with my Dad?" This was a strange idea for James, it had occurred to him many times but he had never acted on it thinking that it may be foolish to mix the future with the past more then it had already but really, what more could they really change?

"You want me to talk with me in the future? Do you know how confusing that will be?" Harry asked with a laugh, James shrugged. It could be a good idea but it could also be a terrible one, however, James wasn't always known for making the best of decisions.

"Yes, but it will be interesting you have to admit. Why not? I have the mirror right here," James told him as he pulled the mirror out of his jumper pocket. "It will be fun come on."

"Maybe another time James," Harry told James who frowned. He was so bored. For him, summers were usually spent playing Quidditch with his cousins and pulling pranks and traveling. He had never had a summer so dull.

"I know, it probably wasn't a good idea but I'm just so bored!" James complained.

"You get used to it after a while, of course it's never fun but it gets somewhat more bearable," Harry answered with a slight sigh. Harry's Birthday has already passed and James had gotten him a lot of magical candy which he had ordered, funny enough James's Birthday was also at the end of July just a few days prior Harry's. Harry had gotten some stuff and his parents had promised him a new broom when he got back. They had been clear on what they meant. When. Not if or maybe. They didn't want him to think that he might not be getting back. But he had already died. Well, he wasn't dead anymore if that was any constellation. But he had still died. He was lucky, most people who died didn't come back to life. It was a weight on his shoulders that he didn't understand, it was a weight he didn't realize his father carried. James Sirius Potter should have died that night in the Department of Mysteries, however, he didn't. He didn't die when so many others did. People died fighting wars run by corrupt people such as Voldemort and any other being who believes they are superior. He should have died but he didn't. He was alive when others weren't and he was going to make that worthwhile. He was going to save as many people as he could, people who he needed to save.

James Sirius Potter was going to help as much as he could.
