"I swear you two are sisters!" Tyler shrieks, as she glared at Brooklyn and I as we walk into the cafeteria. I give her a smile, the thought of having a sister would be nice but I'm an only child and it'll always remain that way. Brooklyn has brown hair and brown eyes like mine and we have a similar skin tone, but she's had the same parents her whole life.
We find a place to sit and have our lunch. "Hey Brooklyn what do you write about in your journal?" she looks up at me.
"Just some notes and a little bit of creative writing here and there." Brooklyn is really quiet, probably more quiet than me. "What do you draw in your sketchbook?"
Tyler buds in with a smile "she doesn't call it a sketchbook, she calls it her art journal," she stated. 'Like you call your notebook journal." I look over to Brooklyn and hand it to her, she flips through the pages and hands it back.
"Nice work Moon" she said, I give her a smile and continue eating my lunch. After lunch, I take my seat in history and wait for class to start. People sit in pairs but I prefer to sit by myself, so nobody else gets me in trouble or bothers me. I thought I wasn't going to be bothered until Logan suddenly sat down beside me.
"Hey." He has a strange smile on his face, he looked relaxed.
"Hey" I look back at my journal, not wanting any communication or any social interaction. But, of course, he continues on.
"I'm sorry about Robert som-"
"I know, I have to live with him," I look over to him.
"Oh? Your the foster girl he was talking about?" So Robert has been talking about me to his friends, which kind of weirds me out.
"Oh, he talks about me?"
"Yeah he says your a bitch, but you don't seem like one" He smiles at me with the same kindness and gentleness as last time we talked. Then he puts his bag on the desk beside me. Is he actually going to sit with me?
"So why are you sitting unnoticed and alone?" He questions, putting his arms behind his head and leaning into his chair.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"Well you're sitting at the window in the middle of the room, your not in the front with the teacher and you're not in the back with the rowdy obnoxious teens. Completely unnoticed." I giggle. I wasn't trying to hide, I just like the window seat.
"Well not really, you noticed me sitting here." I answer. Logan stares with those bright grey eyes before he grins at me, it's almost like his thoughts were on something that made him hypnotized. I return the smile, "By the way, thanks for blocking me from the textbook yesterday." I turn away looking out the window and continue to wait for Mr. Anderson to start.
"You're welcome." he replies.*******
After school, I drop the girls and Robert off at home and head to work. I work at a small blue cafe in the middle of town, it's one of the only other places I go to, besides school. I enter the building and get to work."Wait, so you're telling me that he saved you from a flying textbook, came up to you after and started being charming towards you?"
"Noah I didn't say he was charming" I grab a box and fill it with cupcakes.
"Come on, you said he tried to apologize for Robert being a douche." He types numbers into the cash register, I tie a ribbon around the box and gave it to a customer.
"He was just being nice." Noah rolls his eyes at my response and walks to clean tables. He has black hair and his eyes are a deep dark brown.
"I didn't say he wasn't being nice I'm saying he was also being charming, believe me I know charming when I see it." I laugh and give a little girl a cookie and accept her change. The cafe was small but still has room for three tables, booths along the walls and some stools at the counter. The walls were painted blue and all the seats and tables were maple, and there were only two windows in the front of the building."So what else is new kiddo?" Noah is a few years older than me and he finished college last month. He's always nice and protective, sometimes he treats me like his little sister but I don't mind, I already have a shitty foster family.
"Tyler's forcing me to go with her to some party on Friday."
He looks over to me."I thought you said parties were for rebels, and that you'll never get caught dead in one."
