Silence

Prologue

How is it that living in a small town where everybody knows who you are and all your secrets, they somehow don't know your darkest ones? Maybe they just don't want to see what's in front of them because if they did, they might actually have to care. Or maybe they don't see it because it can't actually be true right. Some things the human mind just can't handle, I guess.

If the people of Wolf Cove actually knew the real reason behind the name, they might grab their pitch forks and torches, burning down every house until they've killed every last one of the....freaks. They would be so filled with fear and hatred for the things that they can't understand, eventually, they would turn on each other.

Granted, there might be a select few that would understand. That would take us in and beg us to make them one of us. Then, we would have to tell them that we can't do that. Is it possible to make someone into one of you when you're not even sure how you came to be? There are stories of course, but no set truth. Lastly, there's the group that would turn us into some sort of religious nonsense. Trust me, it's happened before.

So no wonder we keep the truth about ourselves a secret. Most of the time. There are no girl werewolves so when a couple have a girl, they grow up surrounded by them, destined to marry one of the pack members. There are a few cases where a human outside of the pack finds out. The rules say that if a human who finds out, that human has to die, whether they accept us or not. If you break the rule, you can either stay or be killed. Most choose to go ahead and kill the human but in a few cases, they go rogue and leave. Usually, they're found but sometimes, they get away leaving the rest of us to wonder where they went and why they chose a life of running instead of safety.

Those aren't the only secrets of Wolf Cove though. There are a lot they don't know that isn't supernatural. Like how their local police officer is not only a werewolf but one of the worst people in the world, including his wife whom everybody thinks is the town sweetheart. Then, there's their daughter, aka, biggest queen bitch in the town. Everybody believes she's just like her mother, which she is just not the way they think.

There are those that are misunderstood. The ones who are outsiders, or freaks. Some of us are born this way. Others, like me, are made this way. For a small town, there are a lot of secrets and some might just cause everything to come crumbling down.
