Joseph returned back with the rope the next night and again felt the cold breeze. He tied the rope to a tree and repelled himself down into the hole. It seemed to never end. When he hit the bottom he heard a crunch. “bones” he whispered. Human, deer, rabbit, multiple kinds. SNAP!!! He turned around and noticed the beast towering over him.
It spoke in a language that joseph couldnt understand. The beast leaned over to his ear and gently said “i am fear. Your nightmares. You made me”. “but how. How did i create a being with a physical presence that can speak and eat”. The beast replied “your a special being. Youve experienced fear and pure pain to a point where you can create monsters in your head and summon them to the real world. We arent here to hurt you. Just to be your friends”. Joseph stood in shock and puzzled. His mind racing “is this a dream”?
Fear replied “this is far from a dream my dear boy. This is pure reality. Watch i will prove it". The beast takes josephs arm and using his long finger nail scraped three scratches into his arm. “why three scratches” asked joseph? “it is kind of like our calling card you could say. A way to let people know we are here”. “i have a question”asked joseph. “is there a way for me to become one of you”? “yes my boy but the task is very painful”. “whatever it takes. I want the power and connection you have with the darkness”. “then your journey begins here” as the beast slowly slides into the shadows.
