"Your total is $3.14" she repeats "You ordered the Cappuccino?"
I dig into my wallet hoping to have an extra ten cents.
"Excuse me miss, you are holding up the line" says the old lady behind me. I look into her emerald green eyes. She wore a pound of makeup and her hair was silver. At her age she should already have one foot in the grave. I scratch my head and look at the cashier. I gave her the money hoping she wouldn't notice.
"You're ten cents short."
"Oh. I'm sorry it's all I've got" I apologized.
The look on her face told me an apology wasn't good enough. She took the money, put it in the register, and handed me the coffee.
"Have a nice day" she said to me
I smiled at her.
"You too"

I left the café with a feeling of guilt, and without money.
"Parkers" said the voice coming up behind me.
I turned around to see the familiar voice.
Gabe Baker.
Gabe was known as the hottest boy in school. Every girl tried getting his number. Some even blew kisses his way. He had a new girlfriend every week. Worst of all, he liked me.
It makes me want to puke.
"Hey gabe. What do you want?" I sighed
"Why do you hate me? I'm hella hot and I've got the money." He wailed
Seriously. It makes me want to puke.
"There are so many answers to that" I Replied
"Well how about you go on a date with me and then tell me how much you love me"
I laughed right in front of his face. His eyes squinted in anger.
"Fine. You'll regret this Heather." He warned, pointing his finger in my face.
Then walked away.
I wasn't afraid of him at all. He was such a jerk.
"Hey heather!" Said Jake sneaking up behind me.
"Hey jake!" I smiled
Finally. A boy in this school that ISN'T a jerk.

Jake is my best friend, and he has been since 6th grade.
He is the only boy that talks to me without being an ass.
"Gabe giving you shit again?"
I nod.
"He's an asshole. He is dating cara again, you know."
Of course, he is hitting on me while dating a girl.
Dickhead.

We walked to class and took our seats.
Mrs. Porter began talking about boring math stuff that I didn't really care about.
I looked at Gabe sitting across the room. All he did was give me the stink eye.
Pee-ew.
That kids attitude stunk more than Gabe himself.
That's saying alot.
