Chapter 1:

Check-In

I opened the car door and stepped out. Going to the rear of the car, I opened the trunk and took out my luggage.

A whole fucking summer, I thought. I couldn't believe I'd be here instead of hanging out with my friends all summer. I started to imagine what we would have done. Drink, party, smoke pot, party some more, hook up with girls, play video games, drink, smoke pot, party. The summer of my dreams.

"Mack," Mom snapped her fingers in front of my face. I flinched. "Get your stuff."

As I finished retrieving my things I went to my tent. I was in tent number 8. Mom had already kissed me goodbye and left. When I climbed into the tent I saw my new tent-mate. He was tall, had to be taller than me, and had short brown hair. He had what seemed to be brown eyes. But they were beautiful. His shirt was off and I noticed his body. He had firm looking arms and you could see his abs. He was good looking, and I'm not gay.

"Hi." He smiled at me. I smiled back and set my things down. As I started to unpack I could feel his eyes on me, watching me. I felt uncomfortable.

"What's your name?" He questioned me.

"Mack Rowe. You?" I replied.

"Jason Dean." He smiled at me. He had a nice smile too. "Nice to meet you Mack."

"You too." I simply said. I continued with unpacking my stuff and setting my sleeping bag up. We had little mats to put our sleeping bags on so we could sleep on something more comfortable than the rocky ground.

I laid down on my new bed and exhaled. I looked over and saw Jason looking at me.

"What?" I laughed. He laughed back.

"I should probably tell you something before we go to the campfire." He got all serious. My face must've looked like I was scared because I was. What was he going to say?

"Erm I'm kinda gay." He stated. "Well not kinda, I mean I am gay. I just don't know what you'll think about me. I'm no different from other guys I just-" He started rambling. I didn't even listen to half of what he said.

"Dude!" I shouted. He looked at me. "I don't care if you're gay or not, just don't pull anything on me because I'm not gay." He smiled and nodded.

"Thanks." He said. We both got out of the tent and went to the camp fire. We were all sat in a circle and played name games. There was this one hot chick named Katie and I was sure I wanted to get with her. And by the looks she was giving me, she wanted to get with me too.

"Mack." Jason whispered. I could feel his lips slightly touching my ear. I shivered.

"Y-yeah?" I stuttered. What the hell? Why'd I stutter?

"Do you wanna go back to the tent? I've got some joints back there and after everyone is asleep we can smoke them." He asked.

I smiled and nodded at him. Thank the gods he had weed on him.

When we were allowed to go do what we wanted to, Jason and I headed back to the tent. As we were almost there, someone stopped me. I spun my heals around and came face to face with Katie.

"Hey" I greeted her.

"Hi" she giggled. She was so cute. And hot too. I could see Jason tapping his foot impatiently while standing next to me.

"Oh erm this is Jason." I introduced him. He just looked at Katie, without anything to say. I elbowed him. He then smiled but it wasn't genuine. What was up with him? I know he's gay but this was just rude.

"We were actually gonna go to our tent and-" Jason started.

"Do you wanna hang out with me and my friends over there Mack?" She pointed to her friends. I waved.

"Yeah sure" I said. Damn, a hot girl invited me to chill with more hot girls. Maybe camp wasn't so bad after all.

I looked back at Jason. He looked sad. I felt guilty for leaving him.

"Bye Jason" I waved at him. "We still got plans for tonight though." I smiled at him.

"Course" he confirmed. He smiled back at me.

As Katie and I walked to her friends I couldn't help but ask why she didn't invite Jason.

"Because he's gay. He told you right?" She replied. I nodded.

"But what does that have to do with anything?" I asked her. She only shrugged.

"I'm Christian. We don't believe in gays." She told me. I was shocked.

I really didn't want to hang out with her anymore. My best friends at home are gay. I had respect for them.

"Owwww" I groaned. She looked at me confused. "I feel horrible. Sorry Katie I'm going to bed." I told her.

"It's okay." She smiled at me. She came over to me and planted a kiss on my cheek.

"Um thanks." I said. I ran back to my tent and saw the most heartbreaking thing. Jason was crying in his pillow.

I went over to him and touched his shoulder.

"Jason? You alright?" He jumped.

"Oh my god, you weren't supposed to see me like this." He told me.

"It's okay dude. Are you alright?" I asked again. He nodded but I didn't believe him.

"Aren't you supposed to be with that Katie girl." He said. I nodded.

"Yeah but I faked being sick. I didn't want to hang out with her anymore. She disrespected gays and my friends back home are gay." I told him.

He smiled widely and hugged me. I was a little taken back by the hug but I proceeded to hug him back.

"Thanks" he said into my chest. I hugged him tighter.

"No problem" I said smiling at no one in particular.
