The evening sky was honestly my favorite color. That sounds weird doesn't it? Well what I mean is that the colors of the sky in general can vary but that was honestly my favorite. Right now the sky was clouded, gray and ominous. I liked it though. There were also times the evening sky looked orange and purple and that was a good mix too. The lake I was jogging around had a deep navy blue that was dark and intense. It went well with the afternoon atmosphere.

"Hey," I turned away from the lake and looked over at my friend Jesse Ronalds who was jogging along side me.

"Hm?" I responded.

"You were spaced out again." He smiled.

"Sorry. Just thinking."

"About?"

"Pussy." I joked. He threw his head back in laughter.

"My man. Hey, let's stop here." And we did. Bending over to catch our breathes.

Me and Jesse always went on evening jogs on the weekends or whenever we felt like it. This afternoon though my mind seemed to be somewhere else. It always was lately.

"You here about what happened to Jessica?" He said stretching his arm.

I took off my bag and pulled out our water bottles and shook my head. "No, what happened." I said before taking a swig and passing him his bottle.

"Thanks," he grabbed it. "Oh. And she's pregnant." He said.

I spit out the water. There was no way. This was huge news. Things like that never happen to girls like Jessica. She was a sweet captain of speech team and co captain of the cheerleading squad. Not only was she gorgeous but she was super nice even though her parents were really strict.

"How the hell did that happen?" I exclaimed.

Jesse just gave me a look an took another swig of water. "Don't know bro, how are babies made? Maybe she ordered one online. Got a good deal on one she liked."

"Alright smart ass."

"Or, here me out, maybe she ate like some super girl pills and boom she's preggers." He was starting to annoy me.

"I said okay! Fuck." I took one last swig before putting the bottle back in my bag. He chuckled and handed me his.

"Who do you think it was? Kyle or Fletcher?"

Both those boys were on the Varsity basketball team and it was no secret that they both fell for her. Hard. It was also no secret she had them running around her like I ran around for deep fried oreos. My weakness.

"Probably Fletcher they were going to homecoming together right?" I asked.

"Yeah but Kyle was the one who snuck off with her at the bonfire. Either way it's bad."

"That's what happens when you like attention man."

"It also isn't our drama."

"True."

"Ready to run?" I stretched.

"Mark get set go!" And he dashed down the sidewalk.

"Hey!" I shouted. Running fast along side him.

Jogging along the lake most afternoons kept me grounded. In life sometimes you just have to find that one thing that keeps you busy that you actually enjoy. Exercise was that for me. It wasnt abkut getting in shape, it was about training my mind, self discipline and all that.

The cool evening seemed to cast a mood over the atmosphere it seemed. By the looks of it it was going to rain.

A beeping noise snapped me out my thoughts.

"Time." Jesse said, stopping beside me and clicking his wristwatch. "Wanna head to my place?" he asked panting.

"That always goes by quicker than I thought." I scratched my chin not as out of breath as my buddy.

"Yeah maybe for you. I'm beat." He put his hands on the back of his head and started walking. "You coming. This exercising shit is exhausting."

I chuckled. As much as an athlete Jesse was, he absolutely hated exercise. He would much rather be on his bean bag chair in his room playing some classic Minecraft or COD.

"Yeah I'm coming. It's probably gonna rain soon anyways."

Jesse looked up. "Oh shit didn't even notice that."

I started walking and he followed. "You know, you would be a heck of a lot more observant if you wore your glasses."

"Hell no." He said blatantly.

"But if-"

"Shp."

"Jus-"

"Nope."

"Whatever man." I chuckled.

"Good. I'm never wearing those frames in public. They make me look like Harry Potter or something. You know that."

He was right. They were thick framed glasses with a special prescription for his eyes. They were black rims and the lenses were thick. I messed with him when he first got them and he immediately took them off. Only to have his mother yell at him and say she'll beat the crap outta him If she ever caught him not wearing them. Ms.Ronalds was very scary when she wanted to be.

However, it was especially funny to see him put them on every time his mom was around. He would look over his shoulder as if he were an FBI agent undercover.

The walk from the lake to Jesse's house wasn't very far luckily. The neighborhood around the lake was pretty bougie though. The houses always had large windows, me and Jess liked to talk about living in our own big houses like that one day.

The streetlights that glowed in the gray environment gave me a sense of relaxation as well walked through the area.

Then it started to rain.

"Aw fuck." Jesse started. "Dont let the bag get to wet, shit I hate running in rain."

We ran the rest of the way, through the rain our vision wasn't exactly the best especially when it started to pick up. We decided to stop in a MacDonwalds burger place and wait it out. Plus we were hungry as hell.

After we entered the smaller MacDonwalds burger place and ordered our food we sat in a booth. The area seemed pretty empty as it was
