NBA Re-Mock Draft

By: Harshil Bhagwakar

As All-Star Break is coming closer, the rookies this year continue to break the NBA. This draft has been one of the more exciting classes of the decade, especially since last years bore-fest— where a second rounder won ROY and the two runner-ups weren't even drafted that year, although Embiid was fun to watch in his 31 appearances.

We're going to ship all the picks back the teams that traded theirs on draft night except for a few like the Bulls trade.

1.Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum

Tatum has been an absolute stud this year, and he has shown superstar potential. He came to a team that fits his style. He can develop adequately under Brad Stevens without being the first or second option on the team.

He is slashing .478/.431/.832 averaging 13.6 points on 31 minutes a game. On games where Kyrie was not available, his take-over mentality came into action. Celtics came into Atlanta shorthanded, without Kyrie, but still came away with the win as Tatum dropped 27 points on 11–19 shooting.

The Celtics came away with an absolute steal trading down and receiving a potential lottery pick in 2019 from Philadelphia via Sacramento. Celtics will not blink twice in taking him first overall without trading down, risking losing Tatum.

2. Los Angeles Lakers: Lonzo Ball

Lonzo Ball hasn't lived up to the hype, but that's because he has been overhyped by his dad and every teenager who watched a total of zero games when he was at UCLA.

Lonzo may not have lived up to the hype, but he's been balling(no pun intended) out.

His scoring has not translated to the pros, but he's only nineteen. His shot form is indeed unorthodox, but it worked in college. However, it does limit his game a lot. He struggles with creating shots in the midrange area and has little-to-no pull up game.

His impact, however, has been noted. His vision is up there with the top point guards, and it will improve throughout the early stages of his career. His defense has been a pleasant surprise.

3. Philadelphia 76ers: Donovan Mitchell

Mitchell has been the co-steal of the draft class. His length and quickness was his prowess during the draft process. His 40.8% shooting from college has translated to the NBA, taking sinking 2.3 threes a game at a 35.7% rate.

Mitchell is a great fit playing off-ball next to Ben Simmons. Markelle Fultz was seen as potential two guard with Simmons bringing the ball down court. Mitchell is a much better true shooting guard as he can stretch the floor better and can defend better with his length.

Mitchell is leading the Jazz to a league-high nine-game win streak and can be a strong competitor to Ben Simmons for Rookie of The Year. In his past eight games, he is averaging a healthy 20.5ppg and even dropped a forty on the suns. The last rookie to score at least forty points was Blake Griffin back in 2011. This wasn't even Mitchell's first forty-point game in the big leagues.

4. Phoenix Suns: Markelle Fultz

The consensus top pick has slipped all the way down to four due to his mysterious shoulder injury. The questionable change of his shot form has drawn severe concerns. People have been quick to write him off as a bust, but he's only nineteen.

People forget he drew comparisons to James Harden during the draft process because of his elite shot creating skills. He has the makings of an All-NBA player. His size at the point-guard position and his shooting range will keep him from being a bust, that's if he gets his shot back.
