Chapter 1

I sat quietly listening to everything around me as I could see the trees below me from the cliff I sat on. Was it possible to jump? My dark thoughts were pulled back when I saw my only true friend walk out of the trees.

"I hope you aren't thinking what I think you are Rabbie." Raiden raised a brow, he knew me better then my own family and town. They may worship the ground my brother and I walk on, but they did it for Lyulf not me.

I was mute, so they did not think I could bring greatness to them or myself. Plus, Raiden was the only one who truly knew what went on at home.

"Well, come here. Away from the edge. I would be rather lonely if my only friend jump to his death." I move to Raiden's side, he towered over my 5'5 height. His bluish grey hair was shorter then mine also. He was around 6'3 or so. He had whitish yellow eyes that I always thought were cool.

He never rejected me because I could not speak, if anything he thought it was the best. He said once he thought it was the creators thought of me being so pure that they did not want to grant others the ability to hear my voice. For they were not high enough to. That only I could allow those to hear my voice when I wanted it to be heard.

I wasn't sure how that would work when even when I felt pain no sound would escape me. Everyone said the day I was born with Lyulf a very big thunder storm tore through the town and I had cried the whole time, but no sound came from me.

It would explain why I do not like storms now. Raiden always came to visit me when there was one and comfort me. He said as his friend he just knew I was in pain.

Only if he could protect me from my real fear. However, no one could. Not even our parents knew.

I pulled from Raiden's side when I heard Lyulf yelling my name. Looking into his eyes I knew he understood and watch me run to my older twin.

Lyulf stood on a fallen tree glaring at everything until he saw me and an evil like smirk formed on his lips.

"Always come running when I call. Do not make me wait or I will make you hurt more tonight. Remember that brother dear." His voice held so much venom in his words I knew he meant it.

Following him back towards the house I could see him putting that fake mask he wore on, the one was he pretended to care about me. Mother smiled at us as we sat for dinner. The smell was warming but my stomach just wasn't having it. Not after all the beatings I got on it this morning from Lyulf.

Mother gave me a worried look before I stop forcing myself to eat, I got up heading to my room. I heard footsteps behind me and heard his voice, as dark as it normally is.

"Where are you going?" He spat out, I turn to look at him with fear as he grabs my neck tightly. I tried to cry out, but nothing came out. "Answer me." He hissed at me.

"Your worthless bitch. No one will ever love you like I do. So, learn now. Mother hates you, father pities you and everyone in town wants you died. Just remember I am all you have." He growled into my face forcing me into my room.

"When you are hungry apologize to mother and beg for food like the worthless bitch you are." He slams the door closed in my face. I turn to my room, it had nothing on the walls. Just a bed and dresser for clothes. I went to the bed and curled up onto it wanting to cry.

Everything about this hurt, my brother hated me but loved me. My parents didn't even like me. The only person I truly knew cared was Raiden. I jumped when I heard the thunder in the darkening night sky outside my window.

Maybe the storm would wash me away one day. To where I could rest in a place where I would not be hurt. I knew I wasn't that lucky, but I could hope.

The sound of rain put me to sleep. My dreams lately had been about me holding a small child smiling up to a man I could not see. We were always surrounded by people I did not know, and a small boy would come through, his eyes black as night watching my child who's were always frost white.

I could not explain any of it, but I always woke up feeling like I was missing something. The storm had passed, and the night air was crisp. Moving to leave the house I went back to the cliff watching the sky. Fire came on my hand as I watched it feeling my thoughts turn against me like they always did. Moving the flame to my leg I felt the pain of my skin burning. It hurt but it was the only thing that would calm me enough to think clearer.

"Rabbie please stop that." I jump when I felt Raiden pull my hand away from my leg. His eyes clearly showing sorrow inside them. "You can always find me, I will always be here for you."

The tears started to fall as I realized I wasn't just hurting myself but him also. He knew when I was hurt and always came to my aid.

His strong arms wrapped around me as I cried. Silent sobs broke free as I let it all out. Every emotion I felt. I still wondered why he cared about me so much.

"You are special Rabbie. Remember that, okay? Youare different from others and they will figure it out soon." His voice wasfading as I felt my eyes feeling to heavy to stay awake.
