Once I was dressed and made sure I didn't smell bad I made my way out to the family room. Just when I sat down on the sofa I heard the door open and my dad's hushed voice say "She doesn't know yet," what didn't I know? Why haven't my parents mentioned anything about these old friends until the day that they come over for a visit? Better yet, how did they even contact my parents? We've moved six times in a period of seven years from the time I was six months old, my parents and I were almost on the street homeless three of the six times. My dad's voice snapped me out of my thoughts, "Good, you're back! Did you have a nice run, Winnie?" I looked towards my dad who was walking towards me, "Yeah, it was relaxing," I smiled and glanced over to the three strangers and gave them a small smile. I stood up in between my parents, "Winter, this is Jim." My dad gestured to a man who looked to be about my dad's age with light hazel eyes and was already bald; I shook is his. Jim smiled at me and in a soft voice said "Wow, you've grown." My mum then gestured to the woman on his left "This is Jim's wife Alex," the tall green eyed woman with dark brown hair pulled me into a hug and squealed "You've grown so much!" Everyone laughed while I giggled. We pulled back from the hug and I looked at the boy, well man who I assumed to be James. "You must be James?" I extended my hand out to shake his, but to my surprise he gently grabbed it and brought my hand towards his mouth and softly spook "Yes, it's so wonderful to see you again Winter." He stared into my light brown eyes with his dark brown orbs. James then kissed my hand and all I could feel is tingles run up my arm; we smiled at each other and then I looked at our parents who were all looking at us with amused looks.
After sitting down and catching up a bit over tea I found out that Jim was the CEO of a big business in the Entertainment Industry, Alex was a well known fashion designer, and James was an up and coming football (soccer) player. Suddenly Jim, Alex, my mum and dad all shared serious looks and nods at one another, James noticed too straighten up a bit. My parents turn towards me, "Winter, we have something important to discuss," said my mum. I gave her a questionable look and nodded for her to continue, "Now, Sweetie you may find this hard since you're only seventeen but it's time to tell you." She glanced at my dad who processed "You're going to be eighteen in less than six months, and we believe you're mature enough to know why your mother and I decided to do this." I started to get nervous. What were they going on about? Is my drea- "Winter, you're in an arranged marriage with James," my dad sat up straighter, his voice a bit deeper than before. I could feel my eyes get wide out of shock. Unable to find my voice I looked between my parents, then Jim and Alex finally settling my gaze on James "Sorry?" I really hope I misunderstood.
