"mhmm. what took you so long?" kace asked, eyes glued to her phone.

"the girl asked for my number."

"oooh, again eh?" she put her phone in her pocket and stood infront of me. "ah, my taehyungie's really handsome, isn't he~" she coed, pinching my cheeks. i felt the heat rise up to my cheeks.

"yah, it hurts kace- AH!" i yelped, groaning afterwards.

"ooh, sorry tae." she said, caressing my cheek with a proud smile on her face. although it wasn't enough for the pain to subside, it did feel less painful now. we then started walking home.

both of us were quiet while walking. she looked at me while doing so, finally breaking the silence. "taehyungie."

"mhmm?" i hummed in response.

"nomo kyeowo." she said, doing a big heart with her arms with a smile that reached her eyes. i'd say she's the one that's really cute. i sighed, let my head fall back in annoyance and carried on walking again.

"i am not."

"are, too!"

"you could've seen yourself doing what you just did."

"you should see your face!" she said, her laughter echoing throughout the quiet road, the streetlight’s soft light hitting  her face so perfectly. what a beauty. can't miss this photo op.

"tae," i guess she heard the click of the camera.

"did you hear that?" she softly asked me, her eyebrows beginning to furrow.

"oh, i'm sorry i too-"

"no, no, no!" she said, waving her hands and shaking her head, disagreeing so much. i raised an eyebrow, trying to listen to whatever she heard. someone dropped something near where we are and it did not sound like a phone. it fell and made more of a ‘clank‘ noise.

"i think someone's following us, tae." she said, worry evident in her eyes. in that moment i felt a tingle down my spine. i took a deep breath and let it go.

"cee, be strong for taehyungie, yeah?" i gave her a reassuring smile while i caressed her cheek this time. we've never been in this situation before. i could tell she was getting anxious and fearful for us but she sighed and nodded anyway. brave girl.

"take a step back, kace-ah."

"taehyungie..." i smiled and told  her to do it, which she did. whoever it is, it is near and it's planning to get nearer.

"close your eyes."

"tae, please..." i chuckled to myself. she did not know what i was capable of. i mouthed the words it's okay, and she finally let her eyes close.

"now, if you hear anything you think help is needed, call the police." she nodded. i took a deep breathe and exhaled it, it being the only thing loud around us. the night was quiet in this part of the city. and maybe that's why shady people come crawling out around this time. if i hadn't made her wait, maybe we wouldn't be in this situation. how dumb.

i hear the heavy boots against the asphalt, crossing the road from my right fading into both ears. my 4 or 5 o'clock, i guess. running closer, closer. my eyes traveled to her and i see her reaching for her phone.

"not yet." i said.

three, two, one.

hmm.

in one swift movement, i did a spinning roundhouse kick and he fell to the hard ground. i kicked away his knife. clank noise origin detected, heh. i sat down on his chest, in case he thought of standing up again and punched him right square in the face in case he didn't feel that i wasn't in the mood for dying yet. he was out cold, i thought maybe it was too much. i thought again. let me tell you, he needs more.

i stood up only to hear steps again from behind me. don't tell me the second one's after her. my jaw clenched. i didn't get to warm up and god, i just ate like twenty minutes ago. damn.

"touch her and i'll break your neck." it stopped in its tracks. i'm guessing it didn't get to her yet since she didn't make a noise. unless he told her not to make a noise but, unlikely. i turned around to face him and saw that this one was younger than the man and i, and also saw that he had no weapons. i smiled bitterly. oh, was i getting impatient. "you know what i'll just break your neck." i charged and tackled him. i threw punches at him, right, left, right and dodged his. he was okay but i've been trained and i do not disappoint. his eyes went wide as every punch got packed with more strength and gained more speed.

"w-who are you?" he stuttered, his actions going slow. i ignored his question and carried on.

"i... won't... break... your neck anymore," i said, a punch in between pauses. his cheeks were starting to bruise, his nose and his browbone, bleeding. he wasn't even trying to fight back. i leaned in and whispered in his ear. "you won't make it in time to actually see or feel me do it."

i got off the motionless boy, wiping my nose with my sleeve afterwards, as sweat from my forehead continued to drip down towards the earth. just as i looked to see other one still knocked out, the police and an ambulance arrived to the scene. she must've called them and i didn't even notice. my heart raced as my eyes immedietely searched for kace's.
it landed on her's but her's remained shut just as i told her earlier. she was standing still but her hands looked cold. i wiped my hands on my jacket, making a mental note to wash it tomorrow and ran to her.

"kace-ah." i watched as her eyes fluttered open and it held relief as she saw me still in one piece.

"taehyung-ah! are you hurt? did they get away? whe-" she asked another question after the other as her watery eyes checked my face, neck and arms for wounds or scratches. i was right, her hands were cold.

"kace," i said, holding her hands. "were you scared?" her eyes didn't lie and i loved that about her. although she was relieved to see me, she just couldn't help but to feel worried, too and i understood that.

she nodded, "so much, tae." tears started to build up in her eyes and my eyes went wide. she was crying. i hated seeing her cry. specially now, because of me.

"i... uh-" starled, i had cut myself off and sighed. i wiped the hot tear that fell.

"mianhae, kace-ah. i shouldn't have kept you waiting earlier." i cooed, rubbing circles on her hand while my other hand wiped the tears off her face. i was surprised she hadn't hit me yet, to be honest. she just shook her head. "you did good today, do you know that?" i smiled at her. "you trusted me even though you were scared of what was happening."

"damn right i trusted you." i flinched slightly when her hand rose to hit my chest lightly. i chuckled. she's back, everybody. "thank god nothing happened to you, then." she hugged me tight and i did so, too. we let go immedietely after someone cleared their throat. interrupted again? we're on a roll~

"sorry to interrupt," the officer  sent me an apologetic smile. was  i obvious? damn "but we would like to talk to both of you first regarding this incident." we agreed to do it and i can't help but think about her.

ever since we lost our parents, it was just always me and her. it's hard imagining me without her or her without me. it pained her too much to lose someone close to her and that's mainly why i don't ever think twice about staying with her. with what our parents had left for us, we bought our own place to live in and started continuing life there. but honestly, anywhere could be home with her. actually, i could take just one look at her and i can say i'm home.

i felt someone tug at my sleeve, snapping me out of my thoughts. oh, she was done with her turn. "taehyungie, let's go home, yeah?"

i smiled, nodding, walking housebound.

although it didn't really matter where we're going. wherever she is, is home. scratch that, she's my home.
