"What's so great about this game?" Cherie asked curiously.
Zander examined the papers emerald-green eyes and arranged them. "Well, nobody really knew too much about it except for the fact that the game is going to be released later on to celebrate the 50th anniversary of DREA's establishment. But that's all changing now since people are getting their hands on these." He waved the neat stack of papers slightly in his hand.
Zander hoisted himself up onto his lime green chair and turned on his desktop computer. Cherie got up off the carpeted floor along with him.
"Would you mind giving me the packet in your hand now?" He typed in a long complex password quickly into his keyboard, unconcerned about his sister's presence.
"No, thank you," Cherie replied after a moment. Her brother averted his gaze immediately from the computer screen looking slighty surprised. His sis never refused his gaming-related requests that bluntly before. She had always given him a "whatever," "nah it's okay," or even a "do whatever you want" kind of response.
"Zan, I know that you would really like having it, but the packet is addressed to me," Cherie stated matter-of-factly. With that tone of voice, he knew she wouldn't change her mind, if not anytime soon.
"Knock yourself out then." Zander turned his attention once more towards his PC. "You're welcome to give me your packet if you ever change your mind," he added in as an afterthought as she exited the room.
It was time to learn more about SEVEN.
-----------
Settling herself in her bedroom, Cherie carefully opened the packet with a pair of scissors, cutting the giant envelope neatly and extracted its contents. She read the first page of the pile:
Congratulations! You are one of the five thousand specially selected people from the Ultimate Portal gaming community! Ultimate Portal is giving you the chance to be able to become one of the first few people to engage in DREA's new and very first virtual reality game, SEVEN! Due to its popularity despite the lack of released details about the game, Ultimate Portal is helping DREA pick suitable BETA players who will help DREA seek improvements and malfunctions within SEVEN and provide feedback and suggestions.
You may be wondering how you were chosen out of the hundreds of thousands of gamers in the Ultimate Portal community. We have simply chosen one thousand people that fit in each of these categories for the grand total: senior members, newbies, physical gaming specialists, experienced players, and regular/daily gamers. Only people that have been active recently have been chosen.
However, it is important that you must know that only a fraction of the five thousand people that are selected to recieve this information packet about SEVEN will actually be able to become a BETA user. In order to narrow down the selections, you must fill out ALL of the forms that are given to you within the sent packet within one week as soon as you recieve it. Those who do not reply in time will automatically lose the opportunity to exclusively play SEVEN until the game is released to the public.
Good luck to you all!
- Ultimate Portal's President Rowan Willbur
The next papers in the pile were forms that were to be filled out: one for basic information, one for personal profile, and the other for reason of interest and desire to be among the first to try out the game. There was also a smaller envelope in the pile of papers with Ultimate Portal's address labeled on it for Cherie to mail the forms in.
There was only one sheet that went through the details of the game. It was still suspiciously vague to her.
