My phone pinged. I got up from where I was sat reading The Raven King and unlocked my phone.
The picture of my older brother and I that was set as my wallpaper lit up and I smiled, it was taken when we went to New York together and I loved it.
I read the message from my friend: Hey Y/N, you coming to the party tonight?
I groaned, I'd forgotten about that.
After a couple of minutes spent deciding whether it was worth leaving the warmth of the house, I went downstairs to find Dan.
"Dan, would you have any objections to me going out tonight?" I asked "course not, just be careful and call me if you need anything" he replied without looking up from his phone.
I sent a quick message to my friend and went back upstairs to get ready.*at the party*
This is terrible. My friend left me to go upstairs with a boy and I don't know anyone else here.
I consider giving up and going home when someone taps my shoulder, I turn around and one of the members of the local swim team is standing there with a smirk on his face and a drink in his hand.
"Um, hey?" I said "heyyy Y/N" he slurred, he'd obviously had a too much to drink, he could barely stand.
I didn't like the swim team, most of them were jerks who thought they were above anyone else.
"You're looking goooood" he grinned, leaning in closer "uhh, thanks but I've gotta get going" I half-smiled, looking for an exit "aww c'mon babe, just one dance" he practically dragged me over to the dancefloor, I had to get out of there "uh...I need to...uh...go to the bathroom! Yeah, the bathroom" I said whilst pulling out of his grip and running to the nearest loo.
I fired off a text to Dan:Y/F/N ditched me, this guy won't leave me alone
Within 2 seconds my phone pinged, not surprising since his phone is practically an extension of his arm.
On my way
I stuck my phone back in my pocket and closed my eyes, willing time to go faster. My thoughts were interrupted by a loud banging on the door "heyyy baby, you still alive?" I groaned, prayed that Dan would hurry up and opened the door.
"What took you so long?" He said with a hint of annoyance, something about his demeanour had changed; he was more agitated and less easygoing.
He put his arm around my waist and I squirmed "let go of me" I said whilst pulling away from him, his arm only tightened and he led me towards the stairs, everyone else was either too drunk or too busy to care.
I was really starting to get scared, this guy was twice my size and I wasn't a good fighter at the best of times, he was about to push me up the stairs when I heard a familiar voice."Let her go"
I breathed a sigh of relief and turned around, my would-be attacker doing the same and coming face to chest with Dan. I ran to my big brother and he caught me in his arms, he gave me a look that said are you okay and I nodded; he smiled and then turned his attention back to the drunk teen "I suggest you go home and never come near my sister again".
Dan loomed over the guy, he was intimidating just by how big he was; the jerk turned tail and ran off.
"You okay, sis?" Dan asked, concerned "yeah, thanks. Let's go home" he put his arm around my shoulders and we walked home.I smiled knowing that however annoying I find him, he'll always be there when I need him most.
