Note: I'm not actually a fan of Sam however I do enjoy recently pushing myself out of my own comfort zone. I am also fond of the mystery surrounding Dylan and Sam's past and how things may have fallen apart. This is just a silly little one shot I did very quickly just to throw another piece of work out there.

Things are always Typically best in the beginning. Better than the middle or the ending as most endings are miserable but Dylan was not always miserable. Though even as a young man his dry humour, bitter remarks and strange coldness which tore through from time to time was always present but overall he was quite the gleeful man until the coldness weighed more than the radiant if not still slightly withdrawn personality. How could such a cold man have such a sensitive heart?

Never an overly emotional person but nights with Sam where still bringing Dylan some form of satisfaction as the two sat on the sofa eating an Indian takeaway with Sam flicking through the TV channels before Dylan had a chance to claim the remote for the night and force her to endure hours of documentaries. Sam had taken the Doctors heart and been the first to do so, he cherished her even if he would never be quite capable of saying it, showing it or even accepting it completely himself - After all you can't get too hurt if you never let yourself feel too much.

"Sam, we are not watching the X factor. I would rather choke on this plastic fork."

Dylan grumbled, shovelling rice into his mouth from the silver container on his lap. He would of much preferred to sit at a table in proper manner but of course Sam wanted to eat on the sofa watching TV and with her home so little he complied to keep her happy.

"Come on Grumpy you like it really."

Cheerfully replied Sam with a grin before returning to her food whilst the positive energy radiated from her continuously. Dylan knew she would be deploying again soon which was both a relief and a heartbreak. A relief because he was craving a drink more than ever from the secret he was keeping causing a riot in his mind between drinking himself into oblivion or dealing with his problems rationally. A heartbreak because he had only recently proposed to Sam, a huge step for a man so hostile towards the human race even more so in recent weeks. He didn't know if he could ever say it out loud, he wasn't too sure what the word was or how it felt but he knew that it must of been what he felt for Sam and how she had worked herself into his mind to the point he couldn't even dream of anyone else for a second.

"It's ridiculous, pointless, boring."

"See that's the spirit now you're just impersonating Simon Cowell."

Sam let out a laugh before covering her mouth as food tried to escape in her giggle. Dylan shook his head in disapproval before standing up and taking his food to the table in order to eat as he wished, comfortably. Sam sighed.

"Why won't you just eat over here?"

"It's improper."

"Oh and sleeping with your socks in is not?"

She tried her best to form a sense of humour behind the remark but it hit Dylan with a bitterness he didn't expect as he shot a glare before returning his attention to the food in front of him, eating.

"Dylan-"

"Sam, just leave it, okay? You watch X factor, I'll eat my dinner."

"Why are you being like this?"

"I just want to eat my dinner why is that so much to ask?"

"I thought we where having a nice evening."

"We are."

He stated, looking back at Sam who held an expression which suggested otherwise. Sam decided it was best not to be confrontational for now as she ate her food from the sofa, watching the TV in the otherwise silent room. When Dylan finished he cleaned up after himself before reaching a hand for his car keys.
