Emory lives in a world where citizens of the upper class live their life online. They are all hooked up on simulators and enter different "servers" to interact with others. One day Emory stumbles on a new server that only one other person has entered. There she meets Sylvia, the only other person who has entered this server. Together they discover that this server links for them to be in the outside world and is faced with the terrifying reality of what lies beyond the simulation. But with the threat of the outside world they are also faced with the mass shut downs of different servers, effectively killing many people. Can they do anything before either one of the disasters kill them all?
