I never imagined so much of me could ever be ripped out

But here I am

Bruised and beaten,

What's left of me, numb.

The bloody heart inside my chest

Throbs against its cage

The beats cry out your name,

And my torn wrists ache for your touch

But as I reach out, I'm met with cold walls

They surround and trap me,

Keeping you out of my grasp

I refuse to suffer defeat.

The further down I'm pulled,

The harder I fight back up

I enclose myself in darkness

And the world erupts from my throat.

My insides have since been scraped bare,

And as my eyes run dry, my wrists begin to flood.

My body raw,

I write your name in scarlet,

The beat of my heart matching each syllable

And as I give myself up to the cold

Your face is burned into my vision
