"Alright, now that I have all the ladies on board with my plans, we can finally get things started." Smiling wide, Riko took her place in front of all the players and placed her hands firmly on her hips. "Now I'm not sure if I even want someone to come in here and let us out or not." She chuckled. "Now, since we don't have any items, or even anything to put them in, I'll just be hand picking players that I think have potential You're first captain."
Junpei pushed himself off of the cold, slick gymnasium floor and promptly adjusted his thin glasses. "I get to be the guinea pig, huh? I should have known."
"Hey, stop your complaining and pick a girl already. We don't have all day to do this you know." Riko jabbed him in the ribs with her fingertips. "And, you're making everyone else wait on you."
"I have to pick out my own partner? That doesn't seem all that fair if you ask me." Obviously displeased with this news, he frowned, but turned to face the group of girls. Instead of giving his choice any real thought, Junpei simply chose the girl closest to where he was standing. This both sped things up, and kept him from looking like he had any real interest in any of the girls that were there. "You're okay with going first, right?"
Standing up to join him, you nodded gently. "I guess so. It would be less embarrassing of a few people had gone first, but it's nice to be someone's first pick for once." With a bright smile and rosy blush covering your cheeks, you took his hand and led him into the small, cramped supply closet the two of you would be using for the next seven minutes.
Once the two of you were inside with the door shut, the atmosphere became very tense and awkward. Hoping he could change that sooner rather than later, Junpei attempted to start a conversation with you. "Sorry you got dragged into this. None of us really had much of a choice."
"Oh, that' alright, I don't mind at all. We're all stuck in here together anyway, so it's nice that we have something to do while we wait." Though you were red faced and nervous, you really did want to play. The only problem was, you weren't sure how to go about making that obvious without looking or at least feeling like an idiot.
Already running out of things to say, Junpei rubbed the back of his head and sighed. "I guess that's true. Still, we could have done something a little less strange."
"I guess it is a strange idea, but I actually kind of like it." You'd said it quietly, so as not to embarrass yourself, but Junpei had heard you loud and clear.
A little flustered knowing that you were more than willing to go along with Riko's idea, Junpei fixed his glasses, yet again as he cleared his throat. "I didn't know that you wanted to play. If I had known that a little bit sooner, I wouldn't have wasted so much of our time talking. You should have told me."
Remembering that the two of you were indeed timed, you inched your way closer to him, hoping he wouldn't notice. "I would have, but I didn't want to come across as pushy."
"You wouldn't have." Even though he was normally calm and collected in tense situations, this game was getting to him. Determined not to let this get the better of him, he draped his arm over your shoulder and awkwardly pulled your body against his. "Well, we'd better do something while we're in here, or Riko might not let us out."
You weren't at all uncomfortable with him touching you, especially not in a way so completely innocent. The thought of him doing anymore than this, however, was more than enough to make you dizzy. "I don't know her very well, so I'll have to take your word for it."
Because you were beside him, it made things a little more difficult for either of you to make a move. Still, something had to happen, and it had to happen pretty soon. "Please, don't hit me for this later." Dropping his arm down to your waist, Junpei pressed his free hand against your cheek and gently turned your face to his. Acting fast to avoid anymore awkwardness from creeping in, he softly pressed his lips to yours in a surprisingly pleasant kiss. Realizing that this idea of Riko's might not be all that bad after all, he tightened his arm around your waist and brought you closer to him.
"Time's up." Riko swing open the door and flicked on the light, forcing him to cut the kiss short. You could instantly tell that she wasn't pleased with what she saw. "Eh, what's this? You're the captain, you're supposed to lead by example." Crossing her arms over her chest, she shook her head and sighed. "If this is your example, everyone else is just going to sit around, twiddling their thumbs." Turning away from the two of you, she continued to complain. "I expected more from you."
"Sorry coach." He sighed, waiting until she was out of earshot before speaking again. "I don't know why she cares what happens in here anyway. It's a little odd if you ask me."
Blushing, awkward and terribly flustered, you stumbled on to your feet and held your hand out for Junpei. "You don't have to listen to her. I think you gave a great example for the other players, even if no one else saw it. I-I mean, I had fun in here, and since I was your partner, that's what matters, right?"
"I guess that's true." Junpei warmly smiled up at you as he took your hand and stood up. "I had fun too."
