Slap!

A hand smacked Albert out of his sleep. Irritated that his slumber was interrupted, he looked over at the girl sleeping beside him. He didn't even remember her name. He didn't even really know her. All he knew was that she had wanted him, and he gave her exactly what she wanted.

He should've told her to leave after they were done, but he didn't want to be rude and tell her to leave at one in the morning. A girl shouldn't be going home alone at that time anyway. It could be dangerous. So he let her stay the night.

Albert looked over at the clock to see what time it was. 7:07 AM. Damn, she could wake up at any moment. He rolled over carefully and climbed out of his bed, making sure he didn't wake her up. Tip toeing to his dresser, he took out clothes and slipped out the door into the hallway.

Albert lives in an apartment with his roommate Brenden. It has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. He could've took a shower in the bathroom in his room, but then he might have woken up the girl. Albert hoped he could get out of the apartment before she woke up.

In the bathroom, Albert tried to wash up as fast as he could. He wanted to be out in under ten minutes, but ended up staying in there for about fifteen.

When he was ready, he crept out the bathroom to the door. His bag was already by the door; he must have left it there last night. Albert grabbed his keys and was about to open the door when he realized he had no shoes on.

Come on Albert, he berated himself. Can't go outside with no shoes on.

Good thing the floor was made of carpet instead of wood; it made it easier to be stealthy as he walked to the workout room. Albert was glad he kept shoes in there as well as in his room. Finding a pair that matched his clothes, he quickly put them on and walked out the room.

He took two steps and almost collided with Giselle. Now he remembered her name.

"Albert," she said. "I was looking for you. I got worried when I felt the empty space by me. Would you like me to make you some breakfast?"

Then she seen how he was already dressed and ready to go. Her smile disappeared.

"Oh, I guess you already have somewhere to be."

Albert didn't know what to do. He was trapped. He felt like a kid again; caught eating ice cream in the middle of the night by his mom.

More than anything, he felt bad. He didn't want to hurt her feelings. And the sadness in her face, he just couldn't take it. He had to leave before he made a mistake.

"Yea, Wilson texted me and said that coach scheduled an early morning practice, so I have to go now to make it on time," he lies. "When you leave, make sure you lock the bottom lock," he tells her.

He turns around and speed walks to the door. He didn't look back either as he walked out the door.

Albert hated doing this, but he had to make it clear to the girls that he didn't do relationships. Not since Jocelyn.

Outside, he slipped into his car, a simple Honda Civic, and drove out of the apartment complex. He lived only a couple of miles away from the University of Marquette.

As he drove up to the campus, he remembered how it was when he first came here three years ago on a basketball scholarship. Now, he was about to be on his final year here. This time next year, he'll be in the NBA, making millions of dollars.

He parked his car next to the dorm buildings and headed inside. He also remembered how it felt living in the dorms, sharing bathrooms with other college students particularly.

While he walked the halls, people called out to him. He kinda expected it. He'd been the man on campus for so long now. All the girls wanted to be with him, and all the guys wanted to be near him for the clout. It made it hard for him to find people he could actually trust.

Albert almost passed by the room he was going to. He stopped and knocked on the door. "Come in," a voice inside answered. He walked inside.

On one side of the dorm was Wilson. He was sitting on his bed, playing Clash Royale on his phone. Albert wasn't surprised; Wilson's become addicted to that game. Wilson set his phone on the bed and looked up at him.

"Wassup young Alby?"

"What about your game?" Albert asked him. Wilson waved it off.

"I was getting rekt anyway. Damned level one cheaters, I swear they piss me off." Albert laughed at him.

On the opposite side of the dorm, Emely and her girlfriend Karla were lounged out on the bed. Albert greeted them.

"So Alby," Wilson starts. "For you to be here this early on a Saturday morning means you had to escape from your apartment again. So I'm guessing you took Giselle home and didn't tell her to leave last night, like always. Then you had to leave this morning and most likely used me as an excuse again. How close am I?"

Albert smiles. Wilson knows him like the back of his hand.

"Spot on this time Wilson."

"Of course I am," Wilson replies. "Now pay up." Albert takes a five dollar bill out of his wallet and hands it to Wilson.

"So how long you got to hide out here? A couple of hours?" Wilson asks him.

"Yea. Just until I know for sure that she's gone, you know. Brenden will more than likely text me when its all clear."

"Well," Wilson says. "We might as well play some 2k while you're here. You know I still gotta get you back after last time, cause that was some cheese."
