"WHAT DOES THE LITTLE GUY WANT?" grayson asked, looking up and down at a shelf that contained power rangers toys

"i don't know maybe hulk or captain america? i'm sure he knows them, or maybe spider-man" i tell reaching over to grab a spider-man toy

"true but what if he likes power rangers" he grabs the red ranger and looks at it and suddenly sings the theme song

"ok the production is horrible on these toys, twenty dollars for a bad product? hell no" grayson said in disgust as he examines the figurine, i laugh and continued to look around finding the perfect gift for the little
man

"allia, look what i got" grayson cheers, running up to me and giving me a paw patrol play set

i gave him a 'really' look and he just shrugs, "well he's four and turning five so maybe he'll like it" he shrugs placing it on the cart filled with groceries

"i guess that'll do" i sigh and pushed the cart do the aisles, "does eth know about this?" this question startled me, of course he knew about jakob

"he knew my past relationship with him" i say not caring how it sounded bad, i grab a box of wet tissue and place it in the cart

"no, i mean you going to your ex's son birthday party" my face softens and i'm suddenly relieved, "it's in two days and i already bought the kid his gift, he couldn't resist"

grayson breathes in and looks up, and suddenly groan in discomfort i furrow my eyebrows at him clearly confused, "there's this chick around the corner, she's been looking at me seductively" he whispers and points down a couple of aisles

"and not to mention she's been following us" he gently wraps his arm around my waist making me gasp, "just go with it" he mutters placing a kiss on my cheek; he looks up and he smiles, "she's gone now" he sighs removing his arm and patting my head

"how about w-" my phone suddenly rings cutting me mid-sentence, i answer the call not even bothering to look at the caller id, "hey were just finishing up here in the store we'll be home shortly"

"uh this is jack, pictures and the size of the land has been sent to your email an hour ago, have you seen it?" i look at gray and he went to the candy aisle, "haven't seen yet, i'll look at it when we go back home" i say speed walking up to gray

"i heard you're going to the client's birthday" mentally i could see his smirk, he's been bossy a couple of days now because of this project. "the client's kid birthday party" i correct him earning a chuckle from the other line

"well are you gonna go?" he asks, "i already bought the kid a present" the line suddenly falls silent, "that's against the rules red" he tends to call me 'red' when he's serious "yo there's some nerds here, want some?" i hear grayson shout, holding up a big box of nerd i give him a thumbs up sign

"what rules?" confused, there was no 'rules' that states that you could not go to a client's kid party, "it could ruin what you and dolan have, even the business" he says, seriousness laced through his voice

"what so you're blaming me for being close to the kid?"

"no. it's not like that, i'm looking out for you because you've been one of the top architectures in the state; you have a bright future ahead of you red and i don't want to see you going downhill because you became close with the kid"

"what you and dolan have is great and i'm happy for the both of you, and i know you and that jakob guy had a past" i grip my purse tighter against my chest, how the fuck does he know?

"yeah, i completely understand" i mutter tapping my nails against my phone case, "next meeting with them will be on saturday night, ten o' clock . i will send more information to you later" and with that he ends the call, i catch up to grayson and see that he's at the toy aisles again

"so, i was wondering maybe i should come with you," he softly says picking at some power rangers toys "i would be your escort if eth doesn't want to"

i nod slowly as i fiddle my fingers, do i really want to go?
