Nightfall dreamed. Like Shadowbreeze, she dreamed of a storm.

But this time the storm cloud was a mass of red instead. Scarlet liquid dripped from the red island, first slowly, then faster, turning into a single sheet of blood pouring down from the brownish sky.  Wind howled and cried, following the storm everywhere it goes.

Animals cried, bellowed, squealed and jumped around in panic as the storm flew faster, closing in on them.

The cloud of death floated above the forest and mountains, dropping red and scarlet sticky liquid onto the trees, plants and animals. Wind blew the animals off their feet, leaving them lying on the ground, to scared to move.

The blood stained to ground, patches of crimson on the white snow. Shadows crawled over the trees as the storm took place, howling and drenching it’s prey.

Only when the sheet of red started dropping onto her did Nightfall realise she was just staring at the wall of sticky red liquid, doing nothing. She jumped awake, running, sprinting away from the wall.

She was too late. Wind knocked her off her paws, curving it’s cold fingers around her, pushing her into boulders and trees. Blood dripped from her fur, making her wet, scared and disgusted.

Then she heard something. She strained her ears, struggling to her above the powerful roar of the storm. She heard it again. A faint, small cry of pain, coming from inside the storm. She recognised the sound straight away.

Shadowbreeze! How can I forget about her! She turned, facing the storm, fighting the howling wind, and, desperate to save her sister, crashed straight through the wall of blood.

Black closed in around her vision, but she kept on fighting. Fighting the storm and her instincts at the same time, letting love and the grief of losing mother and father drive her on. But her fight was worthless. The storm is much stronger than her.

You will never win..

Nightfall woke with a start. She shivered and looked outside. Everything is dead silent. Not even the calls of the ravens, or shifting of pebbles as bighorn sheep strolled around. Silent.

Shadowbreeze groaned in her sleep, and Nightfall let out a sigh. She wished she could stop worrying, but her dreams just feel too real to be fake.

Her heart and stomach tightened as she thought of the blood storm.

What if I would have to face that?
