I glare at dad. How can he? Without even asking us our opinions and is just making us leave?
"No." I say aloud. Everyone looks at me.
"What?" Dad asks. His tone is calm. Like he knows what I'm going to say next.
"No. I don't want to. You make this decision without asking all of us, and expect us to just go along with it? Well, I'm not!" I'm irritated by the time I finish.
"Well I'm sorry Keeps, but as adults, we get to make these decisions, and this is what we have decided on. I'm sorry if that's not exactly what you were hoping, its life and you have to go with it." He's irritated at me.
"This isn't what any of us want. We all like it here and we don't want to leave." I shout. I notice that I stood up. Everyone is quiet.
"We leave in 2 weeks." Dad leaves the room. I stand there, mouth open and speechless.
"Oh my god. I can't fricken believe him! And he's only giving us 2 weeks to pack up! Ugghh!" I stoop out of the living room, up the stairs, and into my room. I slam the door to my room.
I lay down on my bed and cover my face with a pillow.
I can't believe him! He thinks that we are going to enjoy this? No, because I'm happy here and don't want to leave!
Knock. Knock. Knock.
"Go away." I yell at whoever is outside my door. I turn to my window.
"Keeps, you alright?"
"I said to go away." I grumble. Brian sits down beside me. He sighs.
"Did you know about this? Like before now?" I ask still looking out the window.
"Yes." Brian says so quietly that I can only hear him faintly.
"What?" I stand up. Brian stands up to. "If you knew about it, then why didn't you try to stop him?" I shout in his face. As he begins to speak, I cut him off.
"What the hell! You're not okay with this are you? Oh my god, you are aren't you! Why didn't I think of this?" I pace my room.
"Keeps, this isn't all bad. We all know dad can't take care of everyone on his own. Even with our help." Brian tries to make it sound better, but it doesn't help.
"And then he's going to get married to that fricken person and we'll have absolutely NO chance of even coming back to visit!" I'm still shouting.
"Oh come on Keeps. That's not true." Brian sits back down.
"Yes it is. She's going to take over his mind and he won't know what to think!" I continue to pace.
"Keeps, look at me." I lift my head to look him in the eyes.
"You know that you like her." Brian is really making this process challenging for me to hate.
"Yes." I say in a soft whisper.
"Say it louder."
"Yes." My voice is almost regular.
"See. You're going to be okay." And with that, I'm alone in my room.
