Crash! Bam! Boom! Dang, it! Not Again! "Player 1; winner." Came the automated voice coming from the game, "Player 1 currently has a winning streak of 5. Would you like to play again?" Even though Toni had a winning streak of five, I swear this time, I actually had a legitimate excuse for not being able to beat her.
"HA HA!!!" Toni shouted from beside me, "And again, the trophy is mine! Seriously, though, when did you get so bad at this game? It usually took us 15 or 20 minutes of fighting before one of us beat the other up. Today, I've one five times and that last time, you were down within six minutes."
I shook my head, "I'm honestly not sure what happened today, maybe my head just isn't in the game. But, you should know that the last time, wasn't my fault, I got distracted." She gave me a curious look and I waved my phone in front of her face. She let out a huge sigh.
"Come on! You just got here!" She whined but got up anyways to turn the TV off.
"Yeah, when we got home from school! It's dinner time now and my mom wants me home. I would skip, but my mom always makes the best stuff before she leaves to go somewhere so she knows that I'll be home." I told her before adding, "You know what that means?"
She nodded her head, groaning, as she came back to sit on her bed. "Goulash, man I wish I were allowed to come over, that's my favorite too, but my dad needs me to be here to do the dishes and grab him a beer whenever he needs one. Why does your mom have to be so dang smart?" She placed her hand on my cheek and brushed it with her thumb gently before pulling me in for a kiss.
I smiled as we pulled apart. Thank god I had Toni in my life. We'd been together for six and a half months now and it has been the best six and a half months of my life. If I could, I would stay here, in Toni's room for an eternity. But I knew that I had to go home or my mom would kick my ass.
Grabbing my backpack that was thrown at the foot of her bed and I made my way towards the door. Right before I walked out though, I paused to turn back and wave goodbye. She waved back with a huge smile on her face.
I never wanted us to end. But little did I know that would be the last time I would see her in person for a long time.
