Until the end of time. That's what my wrist says. Until the end of time. I have made it my vow to never let anyone see my wrist. My parents, my brother, and the doctor that helped my mom during my delivery have seen it, but otherwise, nobody has. Nobody will. Many stores sell wrist bands with a mechanical lock that opens only to a whispered passcode. When I was little, it unlocked to my mom's voice so she could wash me, and it was bright pink. I picked out my first one when I was seven. It was a deep purple with white accents. I still have all of mine lined up on my dresser with various colors, designs, cuts. Some of them from when I was in elementary school have dumb jokes on them. All of them have covered the five words I could never forget. Until the end of time. It's who I am. My best friend from 2nd grade, Lindsay, took her band off at a sleepover one time. Linnie, I love you. Generic. She told me that she used to scream and cry when her parents called her Linnie when she was young. Her parents could not be her soulmates. I don't know anyone else's tattoo. Only mine and Lindsay's. Until the end of time.
Seventeen years and the only people I've ever heard say, "Until the end of time," is my parents and brother when they teased me when I was little. Previous boyfriends have said it to me in my dreams as they fade away. I've still talked to all of those people. I have not lost my soulmate already.
I'm doing ok.
